Rocio Paulina Munoz

Rocio Paulina Munoz, age 39, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia, CA. Rocio was born on June 29, 1979, in Guadalajara Mexico, and grew up in Ivanhoe and Woodlake, CA. She graduated from Woodlake Union High School where she was involved in various academic and extracurricular activities and played volleyball, basketball, softball, and soccer. Rocio went on to study biopsychology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. After attaining her bachelor's degree in 2002, Rocio then returned to the valley and worked as a health educator at Family HealthCare Network(FHCN) in Visalia, where she was inspired to become a physician assistant. Rocio attended Touro University in Vallejo, CA, where she graduated with a master's degree in both physician assistant studies and public health. She then came back to the Valley to work at FHCN as a physician assistant, working primarily in Woodlake. She also served as a mentor to others interested in the medical field. Rocio will be remembered for her sincere kindness, giving nature, fun spirit, and immense love for family and friends, and for her passion of serving her community. She is survived by her sons, Andres and Lucas Persell; mother and father Maria and Alfonso Munoz; sister, Alicia Gordon; brothers, Oscar and Gerardo Munoz; nephews, William and Aiden Gordon and Christopher Munoz; grandparents Consuelo and Guadalupe Munoz; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Rocio was preceded in death by her grandparents Desideria and Eusebio Gomez. Prayer and viewing services are scheduled for Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel (127 E. Caldwell Ave, in Visalia), starting at 4pm with Rosary at 6pm. Mass will be held on Monday, January 28, at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church (199 N Pepper St, Woodlake) at 9am with burial to follow. Rocio nacio el 29 de Junio del 1979 en Guadalajara Mexico, y crecio en Ivanhoe y Woodlake CA. Ella se graduo de la secundaria en Woodlake donde estaba involucrada en varias actividades y actividades extra curricular, participo en los equipos de basquetbol, softball, y futbol. Rocio decidio estudiar biosociologia en la Universidad de California en Santa Barbara. Despues de haber recibido su licenciatura en el 2002, Rocio regreso al valle y trabajo como una educadora de salud en Family HealthCare Network (FHCN) en Visalia, donde fue inspirada a continuar su educacion como asistente medico. Rocio continuo su educacion en la Universidad de Touro en Vallejo, CA donde se graduo con dos maestrias una como asistente medico y la otra en salud publica. Despues ella se regreso a trabajar al valle con la organizacion de FHCN como asistente medico trabajando principalmente en Woodlake. Ella tambien sirvio como mentora a otras personas interesadas en ser medico. Rocio sera recordada por su amabilidad sincera, ser generosa a dar, espiritu divertido e inmenso amor para la familia y los amigos y por su pasion a servir su comunidad. Le sobreviven sus hijos Andres y Lucas Persell; su mama y papa Maria y Alfonso Munoz; hermana, Alicia Gordon; hermanos Oscar y Gerardo Munoz; sobrinos, William y Aiden Gordon y Christopher Munoz; Abuelos; Consuelo y Guadalupe Munoz; y varias tias, tios, primos y amigos. Rocio fue precedida en la muerte por sus abuelos Desideria y Eusebio Gomez. Los servicios de velacion y Rosario seran el Domingo 27 de Enero, 2019 en Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave, en Visalia, comenzando a las 4pm con Rosario a las 6pm. Misa sera el Lunes 28 de Enero, en St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church, 199 N. Pepper st. Woodlake a las 9am con funeral a seguir. "De mi angustia llame al Senor; el Senor me respondio y me libero".
