Robert Frank Salcedo

Robert Frank Salcedo July 28, 1942 � April 15, 2022 Robert Frank Salcedo, known by friends and family as "Bob" or "Bobby", left us peacefully on April 15, 2022, at age 79. Bob was born to Ray and Laura Salcedo on July 28, 1942 in Niles, California. Bob was the second eldest child of 14 (seven brothers and six sisters!). He grew up in Lindsay, California and attended Lindsay High School where he excelled at academics as well as football and basketball. This was also where he met Lily Kaku, who became his high school sweetheart. After graduation Bob and Lily continued their story together, which included Marriage and a family. They were wed on December 9, 1962. Their family became complete when their son, Stephen Patrick Salcedo, was born to them on March 17, 1964. After his son Stephen was wed to Kelly Ann Saulque, they welcomed Bob's only grandchild, Eric Stephen Salcedo, who was one of the biggest joys of Bob's life. Bob was forever grateful for the gift of a quality life, after receiving a kidney donation from his late daughter-in-law, Kelly. Bob enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He always loved being involved with Stephen's after school activities; from coaching little league to setting up a high school golf team, all the while, never missing a game. Some activities he found time to enjoy for himself included snow skiing, golfing and basketball (playing city league well into his 50's). Bob was a regular attendee at all his grandson's sporting events and extracurricular activities, cheering him on in the same way he did for his son. Bob began his career path right out of high school, working for Lily's family at their long- standing grocery store, Save Center Supermarket, in Lindsay, Ca. He continued working in the grocery industry until the early 90's, when he changed direction to join the citrus industry, working for Sunkist Growers, Pro Rate, and finally ending his career with the California Citrus Growers Association, where he retired from in 2018. Citrus was not just a career for Bob, it was a passion. What made his career so enjoyable, were all the lasting relationships and friendships he made throughout the years. Mass of Christian Burial services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 11th, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 608 N. Church Street, Visalia.
