ROBERT “BOB” LEE HILLE A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Bob started his life’s adventure on December 27, 1930 in Metropolis, Illinois. He peacefully passed away on October 14, 2014. He was 83 years old. Robert Hille was born to Eddie Hille & Gertrude Crow. He was one of seven children. After serving five years in the United States Marine Corp, Bob moved to Lindsay in 1957 where he met and married Patricia Hall. They had 2 daughters, Carrie and Susan. He became a widower in 1962. Eight years later, he was introduced to Johanna Ross, a widow with 3 children, Daniel, Sherrie & Lorrie. When Bob and Johanna married in February 1970, their two families became one. Bob worked at Perma Rain for several years. Later, he co-founded Agri-Mall Irrigation. Robert was known and respected for his work ethic, his honesty and his ability to design irrigation filters and pumps. Bob studied and achieved his General Engineering Contractors License. He then started his own businesses, Bob Hille Pump & Electric and B.J. Filter Co. Some of his filters are still in use today. Bob was a lifelong Cubs fan. He enjoyed sight-seeing, cross country trips & spending time with his wife at Morro Dunes. Bob fulfilled one of his bucket list wishes by skydiving at the age of 65. His love of music was rivaled only by his enjoyment of a lively political debate. Bob’s favorite pastime was sitting back listening to his family talk and laugh. Bob is preceded in death by his son, Daniel Ross (1988). He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Johanna & their children Carrie (Quinn) Blue, Sherrie (Rick) Van Matre, Susan (Craig) Swift, Lorrie Swortfiguer & Alicia (Mike) Davis. He adored his grandchildren; Joseph & David Ross; Robbie, Katie & Andrew Blue; Christina, Jessica (Coughlin) & Melissa Van Matre; Sadie & Hannah Shay Swift, Amanda (Cisson) & Amber Swortfiguer as well as his great grandson Brayden Cisson, along with a large extended family. Bob is also survived by sister Marilyn Rogers from Indiana, brother Dale Hille from Michigan and longtime friend Vern Tassey. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, October 25th at Salser & Dillard Funeral Home. A special thank you to Optimal Hospice for outstanding care.
