Refugio Navarro Loera

Refugio Navarro Loera, 91 years old, was born September 28, 1932, in San Nicolas, Jalisco Mexico. Refugio immigrated to the United States in the Summer of 1963, along with her four children. She had two more children resulting in three sons and three daughters. Refugio traveled to California, Oregon, and Washington with her kids working the seasonal agricultural crops as a farmworker. She eventually settled in Visalia, CA where she raised her family. She instilled in her children the value of hard work, her faith, and that your word reflected your character. Refugio was the first female sanitation worker at Early California Foods where she worked for 20 years before retiring. Refugio was the absolute model employee. Her dedication, attention to detail, and pride in her work was evident of her work ethic. Refugio, also known as Dona Cuca made friends easily. You could find her sharing jokes, giving nicknames and parting wisdom with her "dichos". She was extremely generous to others in need by sharing a meal or fruit from her trees. She enjoyed gardening, listening to music, and most of all spending time with her children. Refugio's greatest joy and accomplishment were her six children. She loved them profoundly and unconditionally. Her contagious humor, kindness, laughter, and loving memories are stamped in our hearts. Her presence is greatly missed as we honor the amazing mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. Refugio was preceded in death by her son, Oscar Loera and great grandson, Silas Rye. She is survived by her children: Victor Loera, Teri Tanaka (Ray), Eduviges Lopez (Pascual), Rudy Loera, Ana Foy (Eric); 9 grandchildren: Michael (Jamie), Sabrina, Kelli Tanaka, Christopher Loera, Andrea Alcantar (Paco), Zachary Lopez, and Diego, Lorenzo, Emilio Foy; and 3 great grandchildren: Liam, Alaina Tanaka, and Alice Alcantar. Visitation will be held 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM Wednesday, October 25th, 2023 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia. Rosary will follow from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, October 26th, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 608 N. Church Street, Visalia.
