Raymond Charles Turner

Raymond Charles Turner was born in San Francisco on March 26, 1942. He graduated from Exeter High School in 1962. He received his Associate degree from COS and a Bachelor's Degree from Chapman University in Criminology. Ray served his country in the United States Navy as a young man. He continued his life of service to his community as a Police Officer with the Visalia Police Department in 1968. He was one of the first to become a Motorcycle Traffic Officer with Visalia becoming very adept in the investigation of traffic accidents. In 1980, he transferred to the Visalia Fire Department and retired in 1993 as a Fire Fighter Engineer. Ray loved the community of Visalia and its citizens. It gave him immense joy to protect and serve them. Ray overcame a great deal of adversity in his own childhood, which gave him a passion for helping boys who were struggling for whatever reason. He was a special friend to many at Mountain View Elementary School for three years. Ray's life was his work and he was not content to just retire. He went to work for J.C. Lansdowne, Inc. in 1996, delivering fuels throughout San Joaquin Valley until the age of 76. Ray enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing and football in that order. The hunting trips he made with his brother-in-law Roger Edwards, were some of the best times of his life. He raised two children with their mother Cheryl West. He was preceded in death by his son, Loren Turner. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Dave Card, a brother Bill Turner, six nephews, one niece and princess dog Buttercup. Ray passed from life to life everlasting on December 4, 2022. His absence will be felt by his family and friends but it is comforting to know he is with his Heavenly Father. Memorial services will be held 9:00 AM Tuesday, December 20th, 2022 at Visalia District Cemetery, 1300 W Goshen Ave, Visalia. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
