Raymond Orozco

Raymond Orozco, 86, entered into God's kingdom on July 6, 2023. He was born on February 11, 1937 in Los Angeles to Marie and Eulogio Orozco. Raymond leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Maria, and his daughters, Isabel, Arcangela, and Maria (Mati). He had 7 loving grandchildren, 1 bonus granddaughter, 18 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Gilbert, Joseph, and Ernest, sister, Teresa and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his twin brother Edward, and his sisters, Mary and Patricia. Upon graduating from St. Francis Preparatory School in La Canada Flintridge, CA, Raymond entered a Capuchin Franciscan Monastery in Delaware. He continued to live and study there until he graduated. He then was ordained a Franciscan Priest in Yonkers, New York. He took the name of Father Andrew and was assigned to be assistant pastor at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Los Angeles. He later received special dispensation from the Pope to leave his assignment. On August 24, 1969, Raymond married Maria del Socorro. He was devoted to her and to raising her 3 daughters. He began a successful carpet cleaning business and eventually moved to Coalinga, CA. Raymond was a voracious reader especially historical books. You could ask him anything about history and he would know the answer. Through his eagerness for knowledge he taught himself to speak Spanish and French. He also played seven musical instruments, mostly self taught. He loved to garden and tinker with machinery. Raymond was a spiritual, selfless man who was also funny, interesting, strong, and trustworthy. He was always willing to help others in need. He will be truly missed by his family who loves him dearly. May he rest in peace. A burial for Raymond will be at St. Louis Mission in La Grange, CA at a date yet to be determined. Rosary followed by a Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 25th, 2023 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia.
