Piroska Komar

Piroska Komar was born in the beautiful city of Budapest, Hungary, on November 6th, 1930. She was the eldest child of Janos and Ibolya Kovesdan, she had a younger brother Laci. She grew up in the 1930's and actually lived through World War II. In 1948, Hungary became a communist country, that changed the lives of many Hungarians. In the 1950's she met Charles F. Komar, and married him in 1956. Also, later that year they were fortunate enough to escape from Hungary, during the Hungarian Revolution. First, they went to Austria, then to New York, and finally to Kellogg, Idaho, where they were sponsored. They had their first child there, Eric in 1957. Later they moved to the Bay Area, Oakland, California. There they had Andrew in 1960, Sebastian in 1964, and finally Tobias in 1971. In 1971, the family moved to Visalia, California, where mom focused on being a homemaker and raising four boys. She always supported her family and was an excellent cook. She had a green thumb and was a great gardener. She did do some side work, but always focused on the family. She was a member of the Newcomer's club, played Bunco, and was avid Bridge player. She attended St. Mary's Catholic church, participated in many events, such as working a voting location during elections, she always kept busy. She was always well received and liked, people truly enjoyed her company. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles in 1995, son Andrew in 1988, her parents in the early 1980's, and by her younger brother, Laci, in the early 1990's. She is survived by her son Eric, (Marlene), son Sebastian, (Rose), son Tobias, her grandchildren Kristina and Stefanie. Most of them reside in Visalia California. She was a wonderful person, made many friends, was loved and liked by many. She will be missed! Visitation will be held 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM Tuesday, July 29th, 2025 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia. Rosary will follow at 6:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 30th, 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 608 N. Church Street, Visalia. Graveside services will be held 12:00 PM Wednesday, July 30th, 2025 at Visalia District Cemetery, 1300 W Goshen Ave, Visalia. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
