Paul Roy Boley July 11, 1940 - August 8, 2023 It is with great sadness that the family of Paul Roy Boley announces his passing after a short period of home hospice care, on Tuesday August 8, 2023, at the age of 83 years. As the first son of Bud and Dorothy Boley, who met in the late 1930's while both worked in Sequoia National Park, Paul was born in 1940 at Visalia Municipal Hospital and joined the long-standing local Alles and Epperson families through his mother's side. After spending his youth between school in Compton and roaming the Sierra foothills during summers at his grandmother's in Three Rivers, Paul eventually went on to graduate from the Art Center College of Design. This led to a career as an Art Director in advertising, first in Los Angeles and then Chicago, where he collected numerous accolades, including two of that industry's most coveted prizes, an Art Director's Guild Gold Award and a Clio Award. But while in Chicago, Paul won himself the prize of a lifetime: through a chance encounter with a neighbor, which can only be described as an act of providence, he met his future wife Kathleen Palka. They combined families, built a home, worked like crazy, worshiped together, shared moments of laughter, worked through the tough times, and lost a beloved child. But through it all, their marriage was a gift handed down from on high, and anyone with the good fortune to witness it in person could see it plainly. After retiring from two busy careers, Paul and Kathie found themselves back where Paul's journey began, in Three Rivers at the family homestead on the south fork of the Kaweah River. It's here where Paul Boley slipped away from this existence, surrounded by family and in the embrace of his one true prize. Thanks for taking such good care of our dad, Kathie. We are truly and forever grateful for what you brought to this family. Paul will be forever remembered by his wife and best friend of 35 years, Kathleen, his children Shawn (Carolyn), Brook (Isabel), Erin (Kevin), and Regan. Paul will also be fondly remembered by his three grandchildren, Logan, Keira, and Jocelyn; and by his brother and sister-in-law, Hal and Jennifer Boley; niece and nephew, Lindsay and Tanner; and cousins, Carol Nadine McGrew, Rusty and Pat Crain, and Rick and Dava Crain. Paul was preceded in death by his parents Clarence "Bud" and Dorothy Boley, and by his beautiful step-daughter, Kerry Palka. Following a private interment at Three Rivers Public Cemetery, a Celebration of Paul's Life will be held on Tuesday August 15, 11:30 a.m., at St. Anthony Retreat in Three Rivers CA.
