Patsy Nuckols

Patsy Carol Nuckols, 70, of Visalia, California, was called home to our Lord on March 21, 2016. Patsy was born on July 22, 1945, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Herbert Hillary Keathley and Ruby Nadene (Bonds) Keathley. At the age of 3, Patsy moved from Oklahoma to Tulare, CA where she attended Cherry Avenue Jr. High and Tulare Union High School through her Junior year. She twirled the baton and marched with the band as a majorette. In 1962, she moved to Yuba City, CA to live with her mother and finish high school. Patsy graduated high school in 1963 (Yuba City Honkers). Patsy married the love of her life, Donald Joe Nuckols, on August 3, 1963, at the age of 18. She was a housewife, and then worked for the Credit Bureau of Tulare County and in various educational jobs in the Dos Palos School District. In 1983, Don and Patsy moved their family to Visalia, CA where Patsy began her career with the Visalia Unified School District, ranging from Classroom Aid and eventually retiring as the Career Center Technician for Redwood High School in Visalia. Throughout her career, Patsy’s commitment to her job and genuine caring attitude towards her students had a significant impact on multitudes of young people’s lives. She always encouraged people to just do the best they could. At 4’11”, she would tell her boys, “Dynamite comes in small packages.” Patsy was an active member of Calvary Chapel Visalia. Her great love for the Lord shone brightly and was evident in the way she lived her life. She had tremendous faith, believed in the power of prayer and exercised it daily. Patsy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and she always went out of her way to make holidays and birthdays extra special. Her family was her pride and joy; she enjoyed and rarely missed a chance to attend her grandchildren’s awards ceremonies, sporting events, dance performances, etc., and was the ultimate supporter. Patsy was a friend to all she met, always seeing the good in people. She will be remembered for her countless kind and caring ways, putting others before herself, her laugh, and the twinkle in her eyes when she smiled. Surviving are her loving husband of 52 years: Donald J. Nuckols; three sons and daughter-in-laws: Joseph W. and Sandra Nuckols, Michael D. and Natalie Nuckols, Dennis A. and Jaymie Nuckols; and her seven grandchildren, which include four granddaughters: Ashley Nuckols, Amanda Nuckols, Jordan Nuckols and Ashley Abston; three grandsons: Mitchell Nuckols, Jacob Nuckols and Christian Abston. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Glenda Kay (Keathley) Gentry Ferguson; and one brother, Thomas Edgar Keathley. A viewing for close family and friends will be held at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel on March 28, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Calvary Chapel Visalia, 11720 Avenue 264, Visalia, CA from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. on March 29, 2016, where all are welcome.
