Nora Alicia Lira

Nora of Woodlake passed away on August 20, 2023, with family and friends by her side. She was born in Rio Hondo, Texas on February 24, 1958. She is preceded in death by her father Pedro Flores Sr, mother Maria Flores, and her brother Pedro Flores Jr. (Pescado Pete). The Flores family moved to Woodlake from Texas in 1959, where she lived most of her life. She attended Woodlake Elementary and Woodlake High School, where she graduated in 1976. Nora had various occupations but was best known for helping her brother Pete open and run Pescado Pete's Fish and Chips Restaurant. Nora was a lovely humble sister, who loved her family and friends. She was always the life of the party, who had the ability to easily make friends and always made everyone around her laugh. She enjoyed music, but her passion was cooking. She never knew how to make small portions, so she always had plenty of food to give to others. She was very creative with her food and could make a dish at the last minute. They always turned out delicious. She also enjoyed crocheting and sewing, you name it, and she could make it. She always made sure everyone was taken care of before herself. She and her husband Stanley shared many adventures together, including visiting the great state of Montana for a couple of years, but she always found her way back home to Woodlake. Nora is survived by her husband Stanley of 35 years. Her two sons David & Amanda Urena of Visalia, and Raphael & Shawn Urena of Clovis. A grandson Julian & Kelsey Urena of Oregon, and two granddaughters, Madison, and Haley of Visalia. Her great grandson, Zaden Urena of Oregon, and great granddaughter Georgiana Urena of Oregon. She also leaves behind one brother, Jesse & Gabriela Flores. Four sisters, Berta Flores Cornett & Rebel of Exeter, Juanita (Molly) Flores of Woodlake, Gloria Flores Haro & Joe of Bakersfield, Emma & James Castillo of Reedley, and sister-in-law Kathy Flores of Visalia. Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many cousins. Viewing will be held 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM Wednesday, September 6th, 2023 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia. Mass of Christian Burial services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, September 7th, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 608 N. Church Street, Visalia. Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, September 7th, 2023 at Woodlake Public Cemetery, 165 N Cypress St, Woodlake. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
