Nghiep Thanh Tran

We bid farewell to our father, Tran Thanh Nghiep, who departed from this world on October 15, 2024, at the age of 91. A pillar of strength and a beacon of love, his absence leaves a void in our hearts. Nghiep was an unselfish person as he dedicated his entire life to his family. Nghiep was a versatile man. As a young man, he helped manage his family's business. As he grew older, he dabbed into politics by being an assistant mayor of his little town, Long Xuy�n. During the tough time of the Vietnam war, Nghiep played an instrumental role in assisting families to flee the country in search for a better life. Nghiep met his wife through a cousin of hers in 1962. In Nghiep's eyes, it was love at first sight. Due to family circumstances, they lived apart; however, he always loved and cherished her. The family moved to the United States in 1985. Nghiep had to reinvite himself to raise his young children. He held different jobs to make ends meet, from working in construction, as a clerk in a gas station, even as an assistant cook at restaurants. Nghiep was resilient. He worked very hard with an exceptional work ethic. His main dedication was to the family. He had long days. He always woke up at the crack of dawn to get his wife ready for work by ensuring that her breakfast and lunch were prepared as well as her work bag. He would drive her to work by four in the morning. Once back home, he would sleep just two hours until he did the school runs. Then, off to go to work he went until late in the evening. He never complained about anything and always took more with a bright smile. Underneath it all, Nghiep always dreamt of being a simple farmer by raising chickens and fishes while enjoying photography. He loved history and could recite all dates from WWI through the Vietnam war. Nghiep is survived by his wife, six children, and five grandchildren, who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. Service Of Remembrance services will be held 8:00 AM Wednesday, October 23rd, 2024 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia.
