Myron Joseph Bettencourt

Myron Joseph Bettencourt of Hanford-Visalia went home to the Lord on May 15, 2024 at the age of 91. He was a native of Hanford and moved to Visalia to be near his sons the last 10 years of his life. He was a devout Catholic and loving husband, father and grandfather. Myron attended Cross Creek Elementary and graduated from Hanford High School in 1950. He loved sports, especially baseball and played for the Hanford Blues. His passion was training horses and roping in his early years, hunting and fishing, coaching Little League and golfing with his sons. Myron married the love of his life, Mary Ann Vink Bettencourt, on October 20, 1962. They had just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. Together they raised four children, Roman, Shamus, Sonja, and Taner. Myron was a dairyman and farmer, but after retirement he was a real estate agent. His family was his pride and joy, especially, his grandchildren. He loved attending their numerous sporting events. Myron is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann and children Roman (Shelly) Bettencourt of Visalia, Shamus (Julie) Bettencourt of Visalia, Sonja (Stuart) Crumbaugh of Grapevine, TX, and Taner (Stacey) Bettencourt of Visalia, his grandchildren, Skyler (Megan) Bettencourt, Hunter Bettencourt, Carlie Crumbaugh, Jake Crumbaugh, Faith Bettencourt, Emma Bettencourt, Ella Bettencourt, and Romey Crumbaugh. He is preceded in death by his father Tony Bettencourt, his mother Mamie Bettencourt Silva, brother Richard "Dick" Bettencourt, brother Melvin "Butch" Bettencourt. Visitation will be on Thursday May 30, 2024 from 11a.m.-12p.m. with a Rosary at 12p.m. all at Salser and Dillard Funeral Service, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia, CA. A Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 12:00p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 608 N Church St., Visalia, CA. Burial to follow at Visalia District Cemetery, 1300 W Goshen Ave.,Visalia, CA. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may contribute to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church Building Fund at 506 N Garden St., Visalia, CA 93291.
