Michele Ann Schiro

Our cousin, mother, and grandmother, Michele Schiro, peacefully passed to the other side on May 03, 2024 at Visalia Acute Memory Care center in Visalia California. Michele was born September 19, 1956, and was raised in Ontario, California, by Carl and Anne Schiro. She attended St. George's Catholic Church, and Chaffey High School. After high school, Michele journeyed and lived in Northern and Central California, and Hawaii. Michele was a free spirit and lived life on her own terms. At the age of 27, she entered the University California at Santa Cruz (1983), and received her Bachelor of Arts degree with an interest in Theatre Arts (1986). She continued her education at University of California at Berkely receiving her Masters and MSW, in Social Welfare- Management & Planning (1996). After graduation, she moved to Nevada County living in Grass Valley, Penn Valley, and Nevada City working as a Project Manager for a business she founded in Nevada County for Community Business Services; was Executive Director at Nevada County Women's Self-Help Center; in addition, she was a realtor for Keller Williams Realty. In 2008, she became an author publishing her book, Rainbow Blues, a mystery and detective novel set in the foothills of California. Michele was diagnosed in 2015 with Frontal Lobe Dementia, and was entrusted to her extended family until her passing. She is survived by her daughter, Starshine (Samantha) Shartner, and her two grandchildren, Tyler and Ayala. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Elim's Place Memory Care facility in Sanger, California, and the Visalia Acute Care facility in Visalia California for their compassionate and empathetic services they supplied to Michele as she journeyed through her disease.
