Michael Joseph Albaugh

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Joseph Albaugh, a devoted husband, cherished father, and adored grandfather. Mike left us peacefully on April 8, 2024, surrounded by his wife and children. Born on August 16th, 1939, in Cedar Rapids IA, he was a pillar of strength, love, and wisdom in the lives of all who knew him. Mike leaves behind his beloved wife Sandra Albaugh of 25 years, with whom he shared a beautiful love story, marked by respect and devotion. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and countless memories that will be treasured forever. As a father, Mike was focused on fostering loving relationships with his children who survive his passing; Lisa (Jimmy) Miranda, Scott Albaugh and Curtis (Kelsey) Albaugh, as well as step-sons Steve (Kim) Freiberg, Sean (Candy) Freiberg and Shane (Sarah) Freiberg. His grandchildren, Michael John Albaugh, Tisha (Mike) Hoffstutler, Gabriel Garza, Hannah Albaugh, Grace (Nick) Ottoy, Leah Freiberg, Cooper Freiberg, Cassie Freiberg, Abigail Freiberg, Kaitlyn Freiberg, Brooke Willis, Braden Willis and Dutton Albaugh will remember him as the loving Grandpa who rarely missed a chance to shower them with love and accolades. As well as his presence at the numerous school events, competitions, recitals and awards where Grandpa beamed with joy and pride being a part of their achievements. Mike's life was filled with numerous accomplishments highlighted by his honorable discharge as a Lance Corporal from the Marine Corp and then earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Metropolitan State College in Denver Colorado. He subsequently entered the workforce with a long fulfilling career as an aviation administrator, agricultural pilot and citrus farmer. In his community, Mike was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church, where he enjoyed being a member of the choir, volunteering and fellowship. He was also a man of many interests, which included fishing, bull riding (both watching and participating), working to restore his 1954 jeep, camping and a general love of being outdoors. His enthusiasm for life was contagious. A celebration of Mike's life will be held on April 18th at Christ Lutheran Church (3830 W Tulare Ave, Visalia) with a family visitation at 10am and service at 11am, where friends and family are invited to share their memories and say their goodbyes. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Christ Lutheran Church. It is an understatement to say that Mike will be missed. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life lived fully and with purpose. May we find comfort in knowing that his legacy will continue to live on through the lives he touched and the memories he's left with each of you.
