Maurilia Mora

Maurilia "Lila" Mora, 83, of Visalia, California, peacefully passed away October 17th after a brief illness. She was surrounded by loved ones throughout the day and quietly passed in the evening. Lila was born on September 13th, 1939, to Esteban Mora and Maria Luz Alvarez Mora in Leon, Guanajuato. As a teenager, Lila moved to Mexicali, Baja California and worked as a beautician with her sisters. As an adult she met her husband Humberto Avila Sr. in Half Moon Bay. They were married in 1968 in Reno, Nevada. They lived in Santa Cruz, Ca. where they raised 4 children. She worked as an Electronics Assembler at Nova Controls in Santa Cruz, Ca. During her lunch, she loved to walk along the wooden paths in Natural Bridges State Beach, always admiring and enjoying the beauty of nature. She retired after working there for many years. Years later, she followed her son Germano Avila to Visalia, Ca. where she spent the next 20 years of her life. Lila was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her independence and taking trips to the Sequoia National Park where she enjoyed being surrounded by the extreme beauty of nature. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2014 and with the support of her family she was able to win this battle. She was preceded in death by her parents and her former husband. She never remarried and devoted her life to loving her grandchildren. She is survived by her children David Avila Sr. and wife Lily Avila Alvarado, Humberto Avila Jr. and wife Margarita Avila, Germano Avila and wife Joanne Avila, Elizabeth Avila Rieke and husband Nathan Rieke. Grandchildren, Laura Neomi Avila and husband Jose Armando Gonzalez, David Avila Moreno and Fiance Mayra Lara Yanes, Keyanna Josslyn Avila Alvarado, Jared Elijah Avila Alvarado, Nadia Xuliza Avila, Dimitri Alexander Avila, Subreena Nichole Avila Soto and husband David Soto, Angelica Avila and Adrian Avila. Great grandchildren, Abran Leonardo Gonzalez Avila, Jayden Alexander Gonzalez Avila, Damien Moses Gonzalez Avila, Michael Andres Soto, Josiah Avila Yanes, Noah Yanes. Lila really enjoyed and loved her family and will be dearly missed. Viewing will be held 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM Saturday, October 29th, 2022 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia. Funeral services will immediately follow from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
