Mary Lee Turney

Mary Lee (Eudy) Turney, Age 85 Mary Lee was the daughter of James Richard "Bud" Eudy and Ama Marie (Arnold) Eudy. She was born in Paragould Arkansas on July 9, 1938. Mary was born at home and after many years learned that her reported and registered birthday was July 12th. She immediately tried to claim two birthdays! Her family was never sure which birthday we were celebrating. Mary was one of the seven Eudy sisters. She has been reunited with her dad, mom, and sisters Helen, Lucille, and Debora. She is survived by sisters Joyce, Billie, and Sandy. Mary was preceded in death by her husband James D. Turney, who she loved and missed every day. Over the past month she asked about him and talked about him almost daily to her family. Mary was adored by her five children: Bobby Adams of Russell Arkansas, Floyd Adams of Newport Arkansas, Julia Patino of Visalia California, Dewayne Woods of Soquel, California, and Stepdaughter Pam Frank of Ada Oklahoma. Mary was blessed with fifteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren and one on the way. She and her family sadly laid to rest four grandchildren: Mary Leeann Adams, Devon Adams, Tori, and Audrey. Mary loved life and lived it to the fullest. She loved spending time with family, drinking coffee on her porch or just sitting at the kitchen table for hours laughing and teasing each other. She loved cleaning the house and cooking for anyone who was hungry. She retired from the Delta Convalescent Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility cooking for the residents. The clients became family and when we stopped by to see her at work we had to go say, "Hello" to Grandma So and So or Grandpa You Know Who! She loved the old folks whose families forgotten. Her heart was enormous. She never wanted to be forgotten, we made sure she wasn't. She loved fishing and playing slots at the casino and was lucky at both hobbies. Her favorite thing to do was look at pictures of her family and brag to all her friends about what one of her children or grandbabies was doing recently. Mary was a member and tither of Russell Baptist Church in Russell Arkansas. For the past few years, she was unable to attend church in person but her and "Little Man" would sit in her Living room and look out the glass door and watch the people come in and out of the church. Pastor Randy and his wife Melissa made sure she was always on the prayer list and dropped in on her often. Many members of the church made sure to connect with her in person and by phone. She was a mighty woman of God and is now dancing with the angels in heaven. Mary's laugh, sense of humor and love for her family and friends was infectious. If you knew her, you would love her. Her passing has left a void in many hearts. Mary will be laid to rest with her husband James in a private ceremony in Shafter, California. A Celebration of Life will be hosted by her family at the Circle J Event Venue in Visalia, California on October 20th from 3pm-5pm. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
