Mary Louise Grenfell

Mary Louise Grenfell, 81, of Visalia, California, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025. She was born on March 10, 1944, in Stockton, California, to Maurice Goncalves Vieira Jr. and Fern Dahl. Mary Louise was a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She attended St. Gertrude's, St. Mary's High School, and the University of the Pacific in Stockton, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in German with an emphasis in education, along with a teaching credential. Following her passion for education, Mary Louise taught 7th-grade students for several years and lovingly taught sewing and knitting during lunchtime. She continued sharing her love for teaching at her daughters' elementary school, George McCann Memorial School, where she taught art and served as a substitute teacher. Mary Louise had a deep love for sewing, baking, knitting, crocheting, and gardening. Affectionately known as "Nonnie" by her grandchildren, she will be fondly remembered for the many holiday cookies and sweet treats she baked throughout the year. Her decorated butter cookies, made for birthdays and special occasions, brought joy to her family, as did the scarves and hats she thoughtfully knitted and donated to cancer patients. She loved tending to her garden, replanting saplings, caring for her beautiful roses, and growing fresh vegetables. Mary Louise was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George A. Grenfell Jr.; her parents, Maurice and Fern Vieira; and her brothers, Michael and Theodore Vieira. She is survived by her daughters, Richelle Klo (Jim) and Trisha Gunning (Mark); her grandchildren, Whitney, Margot, Madelynn, and Samantha; her sister, Susan Sked (John); her nephew, Matthew; and her niece, Karen. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Mass of Christian Burial services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, April 25th, 2025 at St. Joachim Catholic Church, 13392 E. Lockeford Ranch Dr., Lockeford. Interment will be held 1:00 PM Friday, April 25th, 2025 at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery, 719 E. Harding Way, Stockton. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
