Mary "Squeakie" Akin

Mary Louise Akin October 13,1932 - May 30, 2019 Mary "Squeakie" Akin was born October 13, 1932 and went home to our Lord May 30, 2019. Squeakie was born in Lindsay California and was raised in Visalia. Squeakie married her high school sweetheart, lifetime partner and best friend James Pat Akin on June 8,1952. They were married for 57 years and raised 2 children Pamela Diane Akin (Gary Nelsen) of Kingsburg and Bruce Gregory Akin (Denise) of Visalia. She loved her grandchildren Lindsay Christiansen (Lars) of Cayucos, James Pratt (Britney) of Kingsburg, Bryanna Baker (Chris) of San Luis Obispo, Laura Wilson (Daniel) of Santa Clara, Keith Akin (Kailee) of Visalia. Mom loved her great grand children: Case, Ellie, Gunnar and Anker (Christiansen), Carly, Connor and Dylan (Baker) Scarlett, Gracie and James (Wilson), Weston and Bristol (Akin). Squeakie devoted her life to helping others and being a champion for change. She was involved in California Women for Agriculture, California Cattlemen's Association, Kaweah Delta Pink Ladies, California Oliver Growers Council, Episcopal Church Women, Garden Club, Stardusters and her beloved YaYa Sisters. Mom loved the Lord and was a prayer warrior for her family and friends. She loved her church St Clement's of Woodlake California. Mom and Dad helped build the church from a tiny little building to the wonderful church it is today. Mom's passion was gardening. She loved watching her garden bloom and the groves produce fruit. Squeakie's cherries were one of her favorite crops. She loved being a farmer's wife working along side our dad whether it was working in the citrus or bringing into the world a newborn calf. Mom and dad were faithful to the Lord and were blessed everyday in the many opportunities and benefits that farming provided. Mom counted her blessing everyday in life. So many family and friends loved mom. In her final weeks she would thank the lord for all the blessings and love she was given every day by so many family and friends that came to see her.
