Margaret Cortez

Margaret Cortez was born in Visalia, California on June 10, 1943 to Virginia and Benny Vasquez. She attended grades K-6 she then had to leave school as the oldest to help attend to her younger siblings. At a young age she met her husband Frank. She got married and settled into life as a mom and wife in San Jose, Ca. They had 4 boys; Frank, Leonard, Benny and Ruben. She worked in hotels cleaning. She then became a manager to apartments where she met a young man, and she was a great deal older than him. They fell in love and unfortunately she couldn't bare a child for him but she always dreamed of having a baby girl. In 1990 Margaret Nicole Taylor was born shortly after they moved to Visalia, Ca. where she continued managing apartments. Margaret went to be with the Lord in the early hours on Wednesday August 16, 2023. She is survived by her sons; Frank Cortez, Leonard Cortez, Benny Cortez, Ruben Cortez and her daughter Margaret (Nikki) Taylor. Her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Benny, Johnny, Richard, Louie, Clark, Manuel, Frank Vasquez and Michael Flores and sisters Antonia Lopez, Helen Vasquez, Frances Razo, Shirley Flores, and Louisa Vasquez. She is preceded in death by her mom Virginia, dad Benny Vasquez and Sister Esther Vasquez. Margaret loved her family dearly she always remembered everyone's birthday, her favorite football team was the Miami Dolphins she was an amazing person always so thankful for the love surrounding her. She had just turned 80 years old she is now free of pain and at peace. In her final months she had a lot of health problems back in January she had given up but she held on to meet her newest grandson she made sure to always remind everyone to never forget her. She was especially close to all of her grandchildren. Through her family her memory will live on always in our hearts. Viewing will be held 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Thursday, September 7th, 2023 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia. Rosary will follow from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial services will be held 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM Friday, September 8th, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 608 N. Church Street, Visalia. Reception services will be held 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM Friday, September 8th, 2023 at Blain Park, 3101 S Court St. Arbor #4, Visalia. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
