Manuel A Palomino

It is with a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Manuel "Meme" Palomino. Surrounded by family and friends, Meme passed away on March 14, 2025, at Kaweah Delta Hospital, he was 72 years old. Manuel was born to Margarita Aginaga-Palomino-Gaytan and Elario Palomino on October 17, 1952, in Visalia, CA and also lived in Farmersville, CA. A lifelong Central Valley resident, Meme attended Crowley Elementary School, Webster Elementary School, Green Acres Junior High School, and Redwood High School. Meme loved reading, gardening, watching movies and football, and spending time with family and friends. Meme was an avid reader and would start his mornings by reading The Visalia Times Delta/Fresno Bee. Because of his enthusiasm for reading, Meme was well-versed in many subject matters and could have an interesting and intelligent conversation with anyone. His nephews and nieces considered him a walking, talking encyclopedia and they loved hearing his stories and learning from him. Whether he was talking about his own life experiences, or discussing history, geography, music, or animals, they were always grateful for the time they were able to spend together. Meme's love for animals was infinite. To put it best, there were no free-ranging animals in his neighborhood-because he welcomed, fed, and when necessary, nursed back to health any animals in need. Meme had a big heart and was very compassionate. Meme's kindness also came through in the friendships he made throughout his life. His friends, Ron, Fred, and Alex, better known as his "Sidekicks," were like family to him and his family. Many of Meme's favorite memories were with his Sidekicks enjoying meals at home, going out to eat at their favorite restaurants or spending time in his garden. Meme's talent for gardening was impressive. He spent endless hours in his "Jardin" growing tomatoes, squash, chiles and tending to a variety of vegetables and plants. Because of Meme's green thumb, he was able to provide family and friends with a farm-to-table experience with the help of his beloved mom, who would use his organic fare for home cooked meals. Meme is survived by his Sisters Rachel Palomino and Anita Weinert (Robert), Brother Jerry Gaytan (Carrie), numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, friends, and his Sidekicks Ron, Fred, and Alex. Meme is preceded in death by his Mother and the True Love of His Life, Margarita Aginaga-Palomino-Gaytan; Father Elario Palomino; Brother Larry Palomino (Roberta); Sister Clara Morales (Sam); and Brother Johnny Gaytan. In addition to the endless loving memories, Meme will also be remembered by the numerous monikers and terms of endearment from his family and friends, including: Meme, Papo, Padre, Mono, Hotdog, Brother, and of course, Uncle Meme. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Visalia Public Cemetery (1300 W. Goshen Avenue, Visalia, CA 93291). A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following at St. Mary's Parish Hall (506 N Garden Street, Visalia, CA 93291).
