Luanne Glick Byrd

Luanne Glick Byrd passed away at her home in Visalia on the evening of Friday February 12th surrounded by family, at the age of 76. Luanne is predeceased by her mother Dorothy "Dot" Glick. Her father Lewis "Louie" Glick, and her loving husband of 44 years James "Jim" Byrd. Luanne is survived by her daughter Shelly Byrd and grandson Spencer Byrd of Visalia. Her son Brian Byrd, his wife Junelle, and her granddaughter Riley Byrd of Visalia. Her Sister Suanne Tews and husband Phil of Kingsburg. Her niece Trisha Phillips, and great nephew Cameron, great nieces Haley, Presley, and Johni-Lynn of Visalia. Her nephew Eric Epperson of Bass Lake and numerous cousins and extended family. Luanne was born in Lindsay Ca on March 18th, 1944. She graduated Lindsay High in 1962. In high school she met the love of her life Jim Byrd and they married a year later. She graduated beauty school and worked as a hairdresser until she became a mother. She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom and wife until she went to work along side her husband and family at Glick's Old Fashion Meat Market. She and her sister worked together in the office for years until she retired to spend time with her husband. They enjoyed a few years of golf and travel until he got sick and Luanne was the best nurse he could ask for. She enjoyed spending time with family. Going to the movies, for the popcorn. Golfing with her friends and Jim and shopping. Luanne suffered with Chron's disease since she was 21. Even though she did not feel good most of the time she always looked like a million bucks and would not complain. She was always kind and gentle, putting everyone else first. She was such a strong woman. She was very funny in her dry little way. Luanne was truly one of the best people you could meet. Genuinely a good person. Luanne is loved and will be missed by many, especially her family. A viewing will be held Friday, February 19, 2021 at Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel from 4 PM to 7 PM. A Graveside service will be held Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Visalia District Cemetery at 9:30am. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
