Lorene Garcia

Lorene (Lori) Garcia passed away on March 2nd, 2018 at the Redwood Springs Healthcare Center in Visalia, California. She was born on November 10, 1938 in Hanford, California to William (Willie) and Sue Lee, of Lemoore, California. Lori was under the care of Redwood Springs staff, as well as select staff from Sojourn Hospice, for multiple medical issues at the time of her death. Additionally, during the last four months of her life she had one or more of her family members by her side daily, specifically her daughter Cindy, for love and emotional support. With that, she was never alone, for she always had her lord and savior Jesus Christ there with her, holding her hand, assuring her of his eternal and unconditional love. Lorene was raised in Lemoore, California. At the age of 21 she, along with her current family, relocated to Northern California (the Bay area) and resided in the cities of San Jose, and then Campbell. Lori and family subsequently moved to the Monterey Peninsula (Seaside, CA.). In 1965 Lori and family moved to Visalia, California, which is where roots were established and she proudly called home. Lori was married three times. The first two marriages ended in divorce. Her first marriage was to the late Olin Harris. Her second marriage was to the late Robert L. Owings. Her latest husband, whom she claimed to be the love of her life, was Rudy L. Garcia, who passed away in 1984. Lorene had a work history that included being a field laborer, a restaurant waitress, and a telephone receptionist, but her primary occupation(s) were that of a home maker/house wife. She took pride in her home and family, but primarily the upbringing and accomplishments of her children. Lori was preceded in death by: her grandparents James and May Kelly, and Frank and Newty Lee, her parents William (Willie) and Sue Lee, her brothers Homer Lee, Francis (Jack) Lee, George Lee, Robert Lee, and William (Junior) Lee, and her sisters Lois Ketner and Florene Gonzales. Additionally, Lorene was preceded in death by her dear niece and friend Virginia (Faye) Maiolini. Lorene is survived by: her daughter Cindy Harris, her sons Robert (Bobby) Owings and his wife Marcie Owings, Vernie Garcia and his wife Judy Garcia, and son Bryant Garcia and his wife Tamara Garcia, her grandchildren Rebekah Owings, Robert Owings, Kristi White and her husband Benjamin White, Justin Garcia, Laura Owings, Alex Garcia, and Aubrey Garcia, and her great grandson Jonathan Lackey. Additionally, Lori was blessed with additional grandchildren/great grandchildren by marriage, whom she is survived by. They include: granddaughters Donna Whelan, Terri Lynn Sigley and her husband Tommy Sigley, Kimber Swift, Danielle Dawes, and MacKenzie Dawes, great granddaughters Courtney Sigley and Carley Sigley, and great grandsons Judd Post and Jared Post. Lastly, Lori is survived by several nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews. With that, a precious few were able to stay in contact with her through the later years of her life. They include: nephew Richard (Dickie) and his wife Thea Lee, niece Anna and her husband Sal Disalvo, nephew Robert Wayne and his wife Cathy Lee, nephew Ronnie and his wife Jennifer Lee, and nephew Donny Lee. Nephew by marriage Gino Maiolini thoughtfully stayed in contact, and was considered close family. Great niece Lindsay and her husband Luke Garrett, and great niece Tamara and husband John Gardiner held a special place in their aunt Lori's heart. Lori was a fun loving person, whose body just couldn't keep up with her spirit in the later years of her life. She loved being around family and friends, and she loved her music. Some have memories of a young Lori dancing up a storm, and some have a memory or two of her being on the dance floor, with her motor scooter, enjoying the moments and having fun the only way she could. Lorene now has a new body, a young body, and she's with old friends and family. She's no longer in pain. She no longer has a mobility impairment to worry about. On March 2, 2018 Jesus decided it was her time to join him in heaven. Lastly, the family would like to thank the staff at Oak Meadows Senior Living for their support and caring, and the staff at Redwood Springs Healthcare Center for their compassionate care and treatment of our mother, Lorene (Lori) Garcia, during these trying times. Additionally, the family would like to acknowledge and thank Mary Villalobos and Dottie Benko for their understanding and unconditional friendship over the years. There will be a viewing on March 8, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel, located at 127 East Caldwell Avenue in Visalia, California. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, March 9, 2018 at the Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel, followed by a brief internment service at the Visalia Cemetery, located at 1300 W.
