Larry Patrick Somawang

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Larry Somawang, who departed this world on June 15, 2026. During the final weeks of his life, Larry was surrounded by the love and support of not only his family, but also countless relatives and friends who came to pay their respects and share treasured memories. Larry was a man of quiet strength, but it was his sense of humor, generosity, and love for life that left the greatest impression on those who knew him. His greatest joys were found in life's simple pleasures: casting a line on a peaceful morning, tending to his lush garden, and hosting countless barbecues for no reason other than bringing family and friends together. An avid fisherman, Larry cherished the serenity of lakes and rivers and found peace in nature's beauty. In his garden, he nurtured a variety of plants and took great joy in sharing his harvest with others. Yet, above all else, it was his unwavering devotion to his family that defined him. His presence was a constant source of warmth, wisdom, laughter, and unconditional love. Larry was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Margaret Somawang, along with his parents Tony and Julia Somawang. He leaves behind his loving children: Monica Somawang, Michael Somawang, and Mathew Somawang. He was a proud grandfather to Sarah Drummond, Branden Drummond, and Jazmyn Drummond, and a cherished great-grandfather to Sophie and Azariah. Larry is also survived by his extended family: Linda Paez and her husband Bob; Lonnie Somawang; Richard Somawang and his wife Josie; Joey Somawang and his wife Hiromi; Gene Somawang; Mark Somawang and his wife Julie; and Sandy Stone and her husband Greg, along with countless nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends whose lives he touched throughout the years. Larry leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Though he has cast his final line and planted his last seed, his love will continue to grow and flourish within us. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered. Memorial services will be held 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM Thursday, July 2nd, 2026 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia.
