Larry Wayne Edwards, Sr.

We rejoice in the celebration of Larry Wayne Edwards, born to West Edwards and Dorthy Solomon Preyear in Burnt Corn, Alabama, on December 12, 1952. Larry migrated with his parents to Visalia, California, at the age of three. He received his high school diploma from Redwood High School. Later, Larry attended San Jose State College and returned home to work with his father at Edwards Recycling. Larry continued his business until his health declined. Larry joined Second Baptist Church in 1965 under the leadership of Pastor Randall. In the year 2000, he joined St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Tulare, California, under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Robert Charles, where he also served on the deacon board until his passing. He was a faithful and cheerful giver with a kind heart. Larry enjoyed wrestling, which was his favorite pastime growing up. He loved his family and they meant the world to him. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren who brought him the utmost joy. He loved going to the beach, listening to music, watching football, supporting his favorite teams, the Green Bay Packers and the Washington Seahawks. Larry leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Tiarena Edwards of Tulare, CA; son Larry Edwards, Jr., of Sacramento, CA; son Cody Paul Edwards and his wife Rachel, of Fresno, CA; son West Edwards of Visalia, CA; daughter Moya Edwards of Visalia, CA; daughter Dorothy Taniah Edwards of Houston, TX; daughter Joshauna (Shae) Hunt of Fort Worth, TX; and a host of siblings, Milton Edwards and his wife Margaret of Stockton, CA; Maxine and her husband Earnest (Bo) McCormick of Visalia, CA; Melinda Edwards of Visalia, CA; Leonard Edwards of Tulare, CA; and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his siblings, Lessie Mae Williams; James Edwards; Chester Edwards; Acie Paul Wilson; Irish Edwards; Charles Edwards; Mary Johnson; and Willie Rollins. Visitation will be held 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Thursday, April 2nd, 2026 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, April 3rd, 2026 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, April 3rd, 2026 at Visalia District Cemetery, 1300 W Goshen Ave, Visalia. Reception services will be held 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM Friday, April 3rd, 2026 at Salser & Dillard Life Event Center, 135 E Caldwell Ave, Visalia.
