Kathy Lou King

Kathy Lou King was born on May 20, 1953 in Mora, Minnesota to John and Gladys Veldhuizen. She went home to be with the Lord on November 12, 2017. Kathy was preceded in death by her mother and is survived by Billy King, her husband of 40 years. She is also survived by her father, John Veldhuizen; two sons - David (Aimee) Veldhuizen of Visalia, John King, of Casper, Wyoming; three grandchildren - Tyler Veldhuizen, Carlie Veldhuizen, Kendyll King; three sisters- Barbara Romans, Cindy Dally, Karen Hoffman; one brother - Randy Veldhuizen; and numerous nieces and nephews. Kathy moved with her family from Minnesota to Rosamond, California in 1967 and later moved to Visalia in 1973. She spent her life as a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend to many. Where ever you encountered Kathy, she was the life of the party with her infectuous laugh and kind words. She truly loved life and all who were blessed to meet and spend time with her. Kathy had many occupations during her lifetime. She had been a waitress, truck driver, sandwich maker, taking care of the elderly, catering assistant, and working as a greeting card stock person for Hallmark Cards. She retired in 2014 and finally began to enjoy being home more and spend more time on the many hobbies she enjoyed. Because of her many different types of employment, she met many people and touched many a life in a very special way. Kathy enjoyed reading, quilting, cross stitch, watching football, playing fantasy football, bowling and playing bunco and bingo just to name a few of her many hobbies, but her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Taking her grandchildren to see the Monster Trucks was one of their annual adventures. Family get togethers were a must, always looking for a reason to have some fun together. The family would like to thank the Kaweah Delta hospital staff at 3 South. We are so grateful for the care given Kathy during her two week stay in the hospital. We were truly blessed by your concern and comfort for our beloved Kathy. in lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, 110 W Main, Visalia, CA 93291, St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis TN 38101 or your favorite charity.
