June McGill

June (Shackelford) McGill of Farmersville, passed away on Tuesday, October 24th, 2023, at the age of 75 with family by her side. June graduated from Exeter High School in 1967 and went on to work for the Farmersville School District for over 30 years, starting as a teacher's aide then moving on to a cook. She retired as the lead cook at Farmersville High School. June was born in Exeter, CA to Hugh and Eseline Shackelford on January 1st 1948. Prior to the birth of June and her twin brother, Junior, the family had moved from Arkansas and established roots in Farmersville. June enjoyed, in her younger years, doing hair for friends and family. She also enjoyed crafts such as sewing, plastic canvas, making beautiful wreaths, and blankets for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed doing word searches and watching Days of Our Lives while drinking her Dr. Pepper. In the last several years June enjoyed tending to her garden and watching her chickens. However, her greatest joy since retiring was babysitting her great-grandchildren. June and Roger McGill started dating in the late 60's before they married and had three children. June was proceeded in death by her mother, father and several siblings. Brothers James, Junior (June's twin) and Johnny. Sisters Eula Fern and Beula Mae. June is survived by her sister Cathy (Don), her husband Roger and her three children, Brian (Marlene), Cecil (Tina) and Heather. Her grandchildren Shontel (Chris), Skyler (Blanca), Shelby, Bri, Traci, CJ, Abigail, and Ricky. Great-grandchildren Wyatt, Kelly and Amelia. June also leaves behind all her honorary "grandkids", she was Nana to many. As well as many, many nieces and nephews. Services and Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 18th at 3:00pm, at the Free Will Baptist Church, 239 S. Dode Ave, Farmersville CA 93223. We invite friends and family to join us for dinner and desserts following the service. If you have a copy of a picture or a fun story to share about Nana, please bring it with you to the Celebration of Life so you can help us make a keepsake book of special memories.
