Joyce Lee Brookhouser

Joyce Lee Brookhouser, a long-time resident of Visalia, CA, passed away at the age of 78 on the evening of December 31, 2025, after a decline in health. Her reunion with her husband and deceased family members was met with celebration and fireworks on this earth. Joyce was born on April 1, 1947 in Provo, Utah, shortly after her family immigrated to the United States from the Netherlands. Joyce was the son of John and Hermina Dickman. Her family eventually moved to southern California, and it was at Sunny Hills High School in Fullerton where she met her high school sweetheart and future husband Charles Brookhouser. Joyce was able to fulfill her dream to be a wife and a mother while on this earth. She was married to her husband Charles on February 16, 1969. They were married for 55 years, and in that time raised six children, Cathy, Jennifer, Kristen, Amy, Marcie, and Michael. She provided a safe and loving home for her family where her children were able to grow and thrive and become healthy, responsible adults. Her dream did not end there. Joyce especially excelled at being a grandmother. With 17 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, there were endless moments of joy that she experienced and shared with them. She is greatly loved and admired by each and everyone of them. The love that Joyce had for her family also extended to many others. She spent a life in the service to her congregation, friends, and neighbors. Her home was a safe place for her family, friends, children's friends, missionaries, a foreign exchange student, and those who needed a home for a short while. She hosted family reunions, church parties, and dinners for many. She served in many church callings working with the youth and the women of the church. She helped organize and plan many activities, events, and weddings. She had a smile for all, and her smile and laugh will not be forgotten. Joyce spent many years of her life devoted to the care of both her parents, her mother-in-law, and her husband. Her devotion to them and their comfort in their aging years was unwavering and unmatched. Joyce is preceded in death by her husband Charles, parents John and Hermina, and sister Martha. She is survived by her siblings Robert, John, Mary, and William. She is also survived by her six children, her 17 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on January 8, 2026 at 10am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building at 650 N. Lovers Lane, Visalia, CA 93292.
