Joseph Aguilar

Joseph C. Aguilar Joseph (Joe) Clemente Aguilar, retired Gang Detective with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department and active reserve passed away of live cancer in CPMC in San Francisco on March 19, 2016. He lived the last 20 years with auto-immune liver disease and diabetes not letting it get him down. In 2008 when he retired from the Gang Unit due to health he went to work for Mr. Vidak at The Department of Education. He loved working in the schools with the children and teacher’s giving presentations on Gangs and Bullying. He had recently added Mayan and Aztec musical instruments which he had collected quite a lot of. The children enjoyed helping him carry them in, learn about the history of each piece and they loved playing them to see what each one sounded like. He also enjoyed talking to the parents to teach them about some strategies to keep their children out of gangs and to prevent bullying or how to deal with bully’s. Joe was born on July 11, 1954 to Fernando and Aurora Aguilar in Woodlake, CA. He graduated from Exeter Union High School, College of the Sequoias and the Police Academy (Class 69). As a student at COS he worked to help pay his way at the school and on the weekends he worked in the fields picking tomatoes where he met his wife. His wife’s best friend from childhood asked her if she wanted to work in the field in the summer and she said sure. So this is how God had Joe and Nancy meet. Joe and Nancy married on February 28, 1976 in Las Vegas. They were married 40 years. They have 2 sons, Joseph and Richard. Some of their favorite vacations were camping, visiting museums in San Francisco, LA and San Diego. Their sons played sports and they recorded every game rain or shine so they could critic themselves. His life was fulfilled when he started getting grandchildren. He loved them with all his heart. Playing games, taking walks, watching movies or just watching them interact made his day. Anytime one would call to come over he was like of course come, stay as long as you like. He was preceded in death by his Mom, Dad and grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Nancy of 40 years, son, Joseph Aguilar and daughter-in-law Kassie; son, Richard Aguilar and daughter-in-law Shawna, 7 grandchildren, Natalie, Neveah, Josyah, Judah, Karly, Michael and Julia Aguilar; brother, Fernando (Laura) Aguilar, sister, Susana (George) Rocha, sister Cecilia (Tim) Farrands. Nieces and nephews, Luke, Grace, Marissa, Anna, Isaac, Jacob and Christopher. He is also leaves behind Ginger, Missy and Kume his 4 legged kids. A viewing will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m and followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. at Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel then followed by a graveside service at Exeter District Cemetery.
