John Morin Munoz, Sr

In solemn remembrance, it is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John Morin Munoz Sr. at the age of 93. John came into this world on April 19, 1930, in the town of George West, Texas. He departed from us on October 7, 2023, while under the care of Dignity Health - Mercy Hospital, located in Bakersfield, California. John is preceded in death by several beloved family members, including his wife, Dora Munoz, his parents, Rufino Munoz, and Elosia Morin Munoz, as well as his stepmother Cleotilde Martinez Munoz. Additionally, he is reunited with his brothers: Samuel Munoz, Gilbert Munoz, Joe Munoz, Modesto Munoz, and Willie Munoz, as well as his sisters, Lacilla and Sofia Munoz, his oldest daughter Elisabeth Munoz, step-son Gregory Montano, and grandson James Garza. John's legacy lives on through his surviving family, including his children: John Emanuel Munoz, Rose Huereca, Janie Holguin, Johnny Munoz, Stanley Montano, Rick Montano, Joe Montano, Chon Montano, and Corey Montano. His enduring presence is also cherished by his 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Also his siblings Julian Munoz, Rufino Munoz, Amalia Avalos, Linda Lemus, Dora Null, Mary Garcia, Rosa Williams, Lydia Herrera, Sofia Browning, and Sylvia Torres. John dedicated over three decades of his life to serving the Tulare Joint Union High School District in Tulare, where he held the role of head custodian. Simultaneously, he extended his skills and commitment to providing yard care services, catering to both commercial and private properties. His diligent efforts in these endeavors were a testament to his unwavering determination to provide for his beloved family. In his leisure moments, John found solace and contentment in simply sitting outdoors, relishing the beauty of nature and the weather. Deep-sea fishing was among his passions, a pursuit that brought him great joy and fulfillment. John found enjoyment in watching WWE wrestling, with a particular fondness for the renowned wrestler John Cena. Above all, John held a special place in his heart for his cherished moments spent with his numerous grandchildren spanning multiple generations. In the late 1950s, John embarked on a journey that led him to California. It was in Tulare, CA, where he would establish his permanent residence, a place he would call home until his retirement. In the early 1970s, John found love and companionship in his marriage to Dora Holguin Munoz, his second wife. Their union endured for a remarkable 44 years. John was a devout and God-fearing individual. He maintained a regular presence at the church, adhering to his deeply held Christian faith, and conducted his life in accordance with these steadfast beliefs. A viewing to pay respects to John Morin Munoz Sr. is scheduled for October 26, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The funeral services will be conducted on October 27, 2023, spanning from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Salser & Dillard, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia, California 93277. Following the funeral services, John will find his final resting place at the North Tulare Public Cemetery, 4572 J St, Tulare, CA 93274.
