Helen D. Flores

Helen was born in Artesia, New Mexico on August 18, 1935 to Juan and Patricia Flores. Her father moved the family to Visalia, CA when she was three years old. She attended school at Carrie Barnett, Webster, and Sierra Vista schools. She attended and graduated from Visalia High School. She attended San Jose City College and received her degree in Human Services. She also attended Santa Cruz University where she majored in Communications. She worked for Santa Clara County Office of Education in the Social Service department as a trainer and supervisor. In later years she worked as an Office Manager and Accountant at Brandon House. She did work for Girl Scouts of Santa Clara County as a field director, program development and promotion. She brought agencies together to serve the need of children and parents in the east side of San Jose. She was a member and a volunteer of First Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, Latino Police Officers, Christmas Exchange, MAPA and human relations. In 1999 she moved back to Visalia with her children. She started working at Kaweah Delta in private home care. She also worked at Evergreen Assisted Living as a care giver. She worked for AARP at the senior citizen center. Helen loved to spend time with her family and friends; having gatherings, attending school functions and celebrating special occasions. Helen was always there for her family and friends in need. Her smile and grateful heart has left a void in the lives of all who loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents Juan and Patricia Flores, eleven siblings, and her great-grandson Ralphy Cisneros. She is survived by her lovable children Lupe Serrano and Charles Serrano Jr., 1 sister and 2 brothers, 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.~ VISITATION: Wednesday, April 8, 2015 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm SERVICES: Wake services will be Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at 6:00 pm at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
