Guadalupe C. Castillo

Mr. Guadalupe "Lupe" Castillo died peacefully at his home on April 23, 2018 in Visalia, California at the age of 78. Lupe is survived by his children Sylvia Nasr and her Fiance Ismael Sanchez of Visalia, California and his son David Castillo of Torrance, California, his twin brother Froilan Castillo of Orange Cove, Ca, his brothers Robert Castillo, Richard Castillo, and Ray Castillo of Houston Texas, and Arnold Castillo of Kingsburg, Ca., and his sisters Hortencia Perez of Dibolld Tx, Licha Frias of Reedley Ca, and Lucia Cantu of Pollock Tx. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Anita Castillo of Visalia, Ca and his sister Guadalupe Mendoza of Colorado City, Texas. Lupe was born with his twin brother Froilan on December 12th 1939 in Lyford, Texas to Froilan and Herminia Castillo. Lupe grew up moving between Texas and California, "wherever the crops would take them" as he would say. After Lupe was honorably discharged from the United States Army in May of 1965 he married his love Maria Anita in September of the same year. After the birth of their first child Sylvia, Lupe moved his family to the Los Angeles area of California where he then bought his first house in Baldwin Park, California. Lupe began working for Montebello Unified School District where he would spend 32 years. In 1969 Lupe and Anita welcomed their second child into their lives; David. In 1974 Lupe and Anita moved their small family to La Puente where they would establish roots, be major parts of the community and the church and make lifelong friends. Lupe was accomplished at auto restoration and often would restore classic cars and trucks loving the smell on bondo and fresh custom paint. He was a generous, witty, dedicated, and in his opinion a very funny individual who loved his family and who was passionate about his family, his 1956 Chevy Truck, and his many, many gardening projects. In 1992 Guadalupe Castillo would fulfill his destiny and the roll he was born to play would come into effect, his first granddaughter Chantelle was born. Followed by his grandson Andrew and then finally his third granddaughter Amanda. Lupe was happiest being "Grandpa" and was officially the Best Grandpa in the World according the firm of Nasr, Nasr, and Nasr. The Rosary will be prayed, 6:00pm, Monday, April 30th at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel in Visalia. The Memorial Mass will be held, 10:00am,Tuesday, May 1st at Our Lady of Sorrows in Parlier CA, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate life.
