Gerald Claude Corbin

Gerald Claude Corbin, of Visalia, California passed away Tuesday, April 11th, 2017 at the age of 82. Surrounded by loved ones Gerald took his last breath of this world and ascended to a better place, where he will be greeted by loved ones, and patiently awaiting the time at which we will see him again. Born on December 30th 1934 in Live Oak, CA to Chester Claude Corbin and Alta Marie (Lewis) Corbin, Gerald soon moved to Woodlake, CA. He worked on his Uncle's Ranch where he met the love of his life Eugenia Szakala. Married on August 22nd 1954, Gerald and Eugenia began their 62 year journey together. During those 62 years of marriage, there was one quintessential task he'd set out to accomplish, and that was providing the best quality of life for his family. Gerald worked multiple jobs throughout his life, normally at the same time. Even though he worked for such great places as Lockheed, Wheeling Pacific, and Kawneer none of those provided him with the joy and sense of accomplishment as being a bus driver for Cutler Orosi and Visalia Unified School District. Having the ability to work with kids and provide them with safe travel gave him a deep rooted purpose in life. A wonderful memory that Gerald kept close to his heart was when he took students to see evangelist Billy Graham. Billy came out to thank him for providing safe passage for the kids, and told him he was an Angel on Wheels. Gerald is survived by his wife Eugenia, daughters Mary (Don) Cary and Elizabeth (Dave) Warren, and sons Jim Corbin, Darrell Corbin, and Jacob (Debbie) Corbin; his Brothers Ken (Joyce) Corbin, Tony (Mary Ann) Szakala, and Victor (Lisa) Szakala; his Sisters Janice Luttrell and Gayle Juul; his Grandchildren Jeremy (Raven) Corbin, Bryan (Cristy) Cary, Brad Cary, Melanie Pruett, Megan Pruett, Andy Pruett, Bailey Warren, Chance Warren, Tonya (Jeremiah) Richie, and Thomas Bowen; his Great-Grandchildren (Jeremy & Raven) Demetrius Corbin, Isabella Corbin, and Asher Corbin, (Bryan & Cristy) Cody Gregory, (Melanie) Rhiddic Griswold and Taegan Miller, (Megan) Gage Jones, (Tonya & Jeremiah) Aaron Withey, Lexi Withey, Morgan Greenall, Dina Richie, and Kristan Richie; Great-Great-Grandchildren (Dina) Jorge Hernandez, and (Kristan) Josiah Hermanson. Visitation will begin Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 10:00 Am with Funeral Services at 12:00 Noon in the Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in the Visalia Cemetery.
