Frances LaVon Roeben

The beautiful Frances LaVon Roeben left this world on October 10, 2024, after having lived a fulfilling life with few regrets. She was born in Canoga Park in Los Angeles, California, on August 1, 1943, and changed the world for the better. When she was young, her parents, Francis and Lorene Porter (Freeman) moved to the San Joaquin Valley in California to join other family members. Although LaVon was an only child, she enjoyed having the company of many cousins and aunts and uncles around her. She met the love of her life, the handsome Gene Roeben in Visalia, California, and they were married on March 3, 1962. They welcomed their first child, Wally Roeben in 1964 and they welcomed their daughter Melinda Kay in 1967. LaVon and Gene remained in the same town of Visalia, California, for many decades. They became pillars of the community and were dutiful members of Faith Baptist Church. In 1996, LaVon and Gene welcomed their first grandchild, Melinda's daughter Marisa into their lives. Wally's two daughters, Macie and Kaylee, were born in 1997 and 2000. In 2015, Lavon and Gene decided to trade out the sunny California skies for an even drier heat and sunny Arizona skies. LaVon's love for her family and grandchildren have always been at the forefront of her life, and her entire family loves her dearly. LaVon has always dedicated her life to her family and to her Lord. Some of her favorite activities were playing cards, making keepsake cards, knitting, watching Hallmark movies, and spending time with her wonderful husband. After a fierce 20-year battle with Parkinson's Disease, she left this physical world on October 10, 2024, to be reunited with the Lord and her parents. LaVon is survived by her husband, Eugene Walter Roeben; her son Eugene Walter Roeben Jr. (Wally), her daughter Melinda Kay Martin, her granddaughters Marisa Nikol Martin, Macie Lorene Roeben, and Kaylee Rose Roeben. LaVon is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Francis Porter and Lora Lorene Porter. She gave us everything, and now we carry her love and wisdom in our hearts, forever grateful for the life she shared with us. A graveside service will be held on November 1, 2024, at Tulare Public Cemetery (900 E. Kern Ave. Tulare) at 10:00 a.m. A celebration of life will be held at Fugazzi's in Tulare (1441 E. Prosperity Ave. Tulare) and a light meal will be served as LaVon felt no get-together was complete without food. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
