Felicitas M. Chavez

Felicitas M. Chavez, 86, passed away August 30, 2018 in Visalia, CA surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Jalisco, Mexico in June 1932. She married Jose Carmen Chavez and they had twelve children. In the early 1970's they migrated to the U.S. in hopes of providing a better future themselves and their children. They lived in the Los Angeles area for a several years, then moved to the Central Valley. They then settled in Farmersville until the death of her husband, then she moved to Visalia. Felicitas loved her family. She taught her children by example the importance of strong faith and strong family values. She prayed the rosary daily and offered prayers for all. She was a beautiful, kindhearted loving woman. She was described as: loving, wise, patient, kind, strong, quiet, warm-hearted, clever, humble and nurturing. She raised her children and grandchildren to be united and to value one another. She was the best cook ever and her kitchen was the gathering place for a delicious meal many hours of great conversation. It was the heart of the home and she loved that. She loved to garden. She used to dedicate much time and detail to her garden and it showed because the flowers in her garden were beautiful; it was her masterpiece. She is known to her grandchildren as "Mama Grande" and to them the thought of her meant LOVE. Her smile could light up a room. She will be dearly missed by all. Que Dios la bendiga siempre. She was preceded in death by her parents Jose Maria Llamas and Juana Mejia Llamas, her husband Jose C. Chavez, her daughter Socorro Castro (Alfred Castro), two sons Porfirio Chavez and Manuel Chavez, granddaughter Angelica Chavez and great-grandson Sebastian Magallanes. She is survived by her children Ana Maria (Guillermo) Flores, Carmen (Ruben) Madrigal, Susana (Jose) Magallanes, Heriberto (Pilar) Chavez, Rosalina (Salvador) Banuelos, Gustavo (Irene) Chavez, Gerardo (Mona) Chavez, Elizabeth (Tony) Afonso, Jacqueline (Agustin) Servin, sisters Isidra Ramirez and Herlinda Santos, and brother Alfredo Llamas. She also had 35 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
