Eva Holguin Lasalde

Eva Santillano Holguin (Mom) passed away at home on July 7, 2023 surrounded by her family. Mom was 78 years old and lived a happy and fulfilling life. She was born in a boxcar that had been transformed into a house on January 5, 1945 in Visalia, California. She was the third of six children of a close-knit family that loved each other very much. Mom was preceded in death by her parents Marcelina and Francisco Holguin; her siblings Margaret Holguin Luna, Frank Jr. (Kiko) Holguin, and Enriquie (Henry) Holguin. She is survived by her children; Lucinda Aguilar (Jaime), Elaine Samaniego (Richard), Paul Martinez and Veronica Alvarez; seven grandchildren Andrea, Alejandro, Edain, Jude, Zylah, Mari, and Rosa; and her siblings Richard and Manuel Holguin. Mom grew up in Visalia where she attended school and eventually graduated from Redwood High School. As a child Mom enjoyed playing with her brothers and was proud to be known as "the General" because she always took command. Growing up, she was a tomboy at heart and didn't like anyone telling her she couldn't do anything because she was a girl. As a young girl, Mom's summers were spent working in the fields alongside her siblings. Mom would say she would pray for rain in the summer because it meant a day off from work. As a teenager she enjoyed driving around (cruising) with her friends in her two-tone yellow and white 57 Chevy. She enjoyed music and dancing so she and her friends would go out to dances. She also loved to sing, especially doing duets with her sister Margaret. As an adult, mom's favorite things to do were to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and get-togethers with family and friends. Mom was truly a lady. She did not curse, drink or smoke and regularly attended church. She was a kind, giving and spiritual person. She gave to those in need and her home was always open to family and friends. She was an adamant promoter of education for her children and others. She was always supportive of our endeavors providing us with the opportunities to improve our lives. We love you Mom, Cin, Paul, and Elaine Viewing will be held 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday, August 11th, 2023 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia. Rosary will follow from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial services will be held 9:00 AM Saturday, August 12th, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 608 N. Church Street, Visalia. Graveside services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, August 12th, 2023 at Visalia District Cemetery, 1300 W Goshen Ave, Visalia. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
