Elizabeth Lee Preslik

Elizabeth L. Preslik was born on October 5, 1931, in Peoria, AZ to Thomas Cleburne Lane and Alice Mae Fly. She passed away after a brief illness at the home of her daughter with family at her side. She was 86 years old. Elizabeth was raised on small farms throughout west Texas and Oklahoma during the depression and war years. She graduated from high school in Anadarko, Ok. She moved to California in the late 40's to live with an Aunt. She attended college in Modesto and was accepted into nursing school at the Merritt College in Oakland but before she could attend was asked to help her family in Visalia. There she met her future husband John "Jake" Preslik. They were married just short of 50 years, until Jake's passing in 2001. She worked as a sales associate at Kmart in Visalia for 27 years. She was an avid gardener; irises were her special flower. She was a voracious reader, crossword puzzle doer, & an adept seamstress. She loved to travel and went to Spain, Portugal, China, and all throughout the US including Hawaii and Alaska. She was a volunteer at the Discovery Shop in Visalia and Fresno, Visalia Gleaners and Adult Literacy Center, always wanting to stay busy. She loved to host big family gatherings and was tireless in providing love and support to her growing family. Her son and daughter-in-laws were just sons and daughters. Friends and family were always welcomed at her table. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, and her 6 siblings. She was devoted to her family and is survived by her 7 children: Marianne of Fresno; John and Marlene of Las Vegas, NV; Michael and Beverly of Exeter, CA; Bill and Jan of Auburn, CA; Patricia Robertson of Durham, NC; Theresa and Sonny Bhatia of Vienna, VA; and David and Maria of Phoenix, AZ plus 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Mary's Church located at 608 N. Church St., Visalia CA on March 9, 2018 at 1:00pm with a reception at the Serra Center directly afterward. A private Graveside service will be held at Visalia District Cemetery. Remembrances can be sent to her favorite charity, the American Cancer Society.
