Edward David Leon

Edward David Leon, aka (Beannie) was born on December 6, 1954, in Visalia, California and passed away on February 4, 2024 peacefully in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was the sixth child born to the late Efren and Josephine Leon. Beannie and his siblings were raised in Woodlake California. He was always proud to call Woodlake his hometown and that he was a Tiger. He went through the Woodlake School system and graduated from Woodlake High School in 1973. During his high school years Beannie was a member of the football, basketball, baseball, tennis and swimming teams. After graduating from Woodlake High School Beannie went to work for the National Forestry in Sequoia National Park. After a few years he changed careers and went to work for Baker Brothers Ranch as a ranch manager. In 1985 Beannie went to work for Dryvit in Woodlake, California and eventually retired in 2017 as sampler/production supervisor for more than 30 years. The friendships, good times and the memories were very special moments in his life. For more than 30 years Beannie was an active member of the Woodlake Lions Club. He was involved in community events and fundraisers, especially the Woodlake lions Rodeo. Every year he was in charge of preparing and overseeing the deep pit barbecue that would be enjoyed by thousands of people that attended on Mother's Day Weekend. Beannie could be seen serving cold beverages from the Northeast side of the Woodlake Rodeo. His leisure activities included traveling, golfing with his buddies, going to sporting events and spending time with family and friends. He has a deep love for the Raiders and the San Francisco Giants. Laughlin was a favorite destination to go with friends and family. His love of traveling also took him to Alaska, Cabo San Lucas, Las Vegas, Reno, Tahoe, Chicago and taking cruises. Beannie is preceded in death by his parents Efren and Josephine Leon, brothers James, Gary, Gilbert, Richard Leon, sister Gloria Cardenas, nephew Patrick Cardenas and niece Diane Frazier. He leaves behind his son Andrew Leon of Woodlake, sister Elizabeth (Tony) Valero and brother Ruben (Jennie)Leon both of Woodlake. Beannie will be deeply missed by nieces and their children. Beannie was a loving Tio to all his nieces and nephews and will forever be remembered for his big heart. He also leaves behind numerous friends and extended family. Visitation will be held 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday, March 15th, 2024 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia. Rosary will follow from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Memorial Mass services will be held 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM Saturday, March 16th, 2024 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1908 N. Court St., Visalla. Graveside services will be held 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM Saturday, March 16th, 2024 at Woodlake Public Cemetery, 165 N Cypress St, Woodlake.
