Domingo Sanchez Hernandez

With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, the family of Domingo Sanchez Hernandez, Sr., would like to share with his many friends the news of his passing on November 28, 2022, at the age of 80, at his home in Tulare, California. Born and raised in Carlsbad, New Mexico on July 5, 1942, to Pabla and Leonidez Hernandez, Domingo attended local schools before seeking a life of greater opportunity in California's Central Valley. He settled in Visalia before moving to Tulare in 1972. A hardworking man, beginning in his teens, he found work as a farm laborer before securing a position with Early California Foods where he worked for over 30 years before retiring. He was a proud member of Teamsters, Local Board 94. In 1963, Domingo met his future wife, Margaret(Hinojos). They were married for 59 years and together, raised their five children and a granddaughter. He was also very close to his sister-in-law, Lucy Fierro, and her family. Domingo enjoyed working outdoors, passionately tending his garden, and caring for his two dogs, Lucky and Foxy. Other interests included completing jigsaw puzzles, being an avid reader, watching old westerns, and taking an occasional trip to the casino. He cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren. A man of few words, he smiled with his eyes first, which spoke of a life filled with contentment and love. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Hernandez; their children, Sonjia Torres and her husband John; Sylvia Roberts; Richard Hernandez and his wife Noemi. His grandchildren include Kristina Wyckoff and her husband Stephen, Vince Torres, Victoria Torres, Rhys Enloe, Michael Roberts, Richard "Mighty" Hernandez, Bridgett Flores, twins Emma and Emiliano Hernandez, Tessa Hernandez, Randi Hernandez, Ashlie Campos, Meranda Hernandez, and Lisa Saldivar. He had several great-grandchildren including Alyssa, Elizabeth, Daisy, Isabella Sunday, JD, and Logan. Additionally, he is survived by his siblings, Manuela Saldana of Carlsbad, NM, Nicasia Ruiz of Goshen, Bessie Florez of Goshen, Rosemary Hernandez of Phoenix, AZ, Sisto Hernandez of Odessa, TX, and Armando Hernandez of Visalia; his sisters-in-law Lucy Fierro of Tulare and Amelia Aguirre of Visalia. He was also very fond of his many nieces and nephews. Domingo was preceded in death by his parents; his two sons, Domingo, Jr., and Randy; and his brothers Martin, Gary, and Angel "Gabby" Hernandez. ?We trust that our dearly departed "Mingo" is reunited with those who have passed before him, and while there is a sweet hope of seeing him again ourselves, he will be truly missed. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel with Visitation reserved for Friday, December 16, 2022, from 5 p.m. - 6 p.m. and recitation of the Rosary immediately following from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. at Visalia District Cemetery. I would dig about my little plants, and try to make them happy, so they would endure long after me. Then I would hide secure where my green arbor shades me from the sky. Then, as I rested, perhaps a friend or two, lovers of flowers would come, and we would walk about my little garden paths and talk of peaceful times when all the world seemed true.
