Dolores V. Quiroz

Dolores "Lola" Quiroz died early July 7, 2023 at Open Arms Hospice in Visalia. The last few years of her life were difficult and painful for her, loved-ones and care providers. We were powerless as she progressively lost her physical strength, her independence and her memory. Lola was born September 3, 1933 at her family home. She was 9th of 11 children of Bartolo Quiroz and Maria Munoz Quiroz. Lola was baptized at St. Marys Catholic Church in Visalia where she also attended George McCann Catholic School. Lola was a faithful, active parishioner; she taught CCD; she directed the Spanish Choir and Spanish Music programs for many years. After graduating Visalia High, now "Mt. Whitney", and College of Sequoias, Lola worked for Tulare County Office of Education and then returned to Catholic School, teaching 3rd grade at St. La Salle in Reedley. Lola enrolled in Fresno State, studying hard while working part time at Tulare County Library, Visalia Branch. She finished college with her B.A. in education and teaching credentials. Lola taught third grade at Woodville Union Elementary School before promotion to Director of Bilingual Education retiring in 1998. Lola leaves 2 sisters: Catalina Daggett and Inez Quiroz, both of Visalia. Siblings Maria, Agustin, John, Trino, Pat, Vic, Frances and Nick predeceased Lola. Lola loved entertaining and all types of get-togethers. She hosted and loved giving gifts. Many of these gifts were exotic things from the faraway lands Lola toured. Lola loved traveling; visiting every continent except Antarctica. Her cats and dogs were very important to Lola. She was never able to say no to strays! In lieu of flowers Lola's family asks for donations of pet food to Valley Oak SPCA, in Visalia. Viewing will be held 3:00 PM Monday, July 24th, 2023 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia. Rosary will be held 6:00 PM Monday, July 24th, 2023 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial services will be held 9:00 AM Tuesday, July 25th, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 608 N. Church Street, Visalia. Graveside services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 25th, 2023 at Visalia District Cemetery, 1300 W Goshen Ave, Visalia. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
