Delsie May Miller

Delsie May Miller, (AKA the Ladybug Lady) went to be with her Lord and Savior September 23, 2018, at the age of 86. Delsie was born May 18, 1932 in Corning, California. She was married right out of high school to Emmit Hibbard for 20 years. In 1971 she married her sweetheart, Leon, they were married for 44 years before his death in 2015. Together they enjoyed spending time with family, being involved with their church community and traveling with their Winnebago club, the Fresno Floaters. Delsie was preceded in death by both her husbands, her sister Vaneta Blackburn and her stepdaughter, Kerry Sykes. She is survived by her children, Emmett (Therese) Hibbard of Orangevale, Joe Hibbard of Visalia and Pamala (Chris) Fry of Visalia, her sister, Deanna (Jim) McGee of San Marcos, her stepchildren, Kim (Jan) Miller of Springfield, Missouri, Kent (Jodie) Miller of Arlington, Tennessee, 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Delsie was a homemaker for most of her adult life. She was also an artist. For many years she loved to paint landscapes, animals and still life. The walls of her home were covered with her beautiful art work. Later in her life she started painting animals and flowers on rocks, but her favorite thing to paint on rocks were ladybugs. It was not unusual for her to have half a dozen little round ladybug rocks in her purse at all times so that when the opportunity arose she could give one away. Along with the ladybugs she handed out a little piece of paper with a short narrative about the love of God and salvation through Jesus. Hundreds of ladybugs went out to strangers, friends and anyone she felt led to give one to. She loved sharing her ladybugs but what she loved most was sharing Jesus. The person reading this today may have had an encounter with Delsie and her ladybugs. We pray that your life was touched by the message of hope that she shared with you. Delsie will be remembered as a wonderful loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. When we all see Jesus, we'll sing and shout the victory! A celebration of Delsie's life will be held on Saturday, October 6th at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel located at 127 E Caldwell Ave. in Visalia.
