David Brian Alviso

David Brian Alviso passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022 peacefully in his home surrounded by family after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. He was born on February 1, 1962 to Gilbert and Jeanette (Salazar) Alviso in Anaheim, California. He was the fourth of eleven children. He married Virginia "Ginny" Smith in the Los Angeles Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on February 14, 1987 and they were happily married for 35 years. They raised five children together and had six beautiful grandchildren. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. David studied and received a degree in Mechanical Design and Drafting. He worked in the aerospace and engineering industry for several years. In 1994 he switched careers, and began working for the California Department of Corrections as a Vocational Instructor. In 1997 he accepted a position at the new prison in Corcoran. This switch brought his young family to Visalia in July of 1997. David was an active, faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will be remembered for his selfless service to others, his unwavering faith, and love of the Lord. His greatest joy in the church came from teaching children the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was the best Papa Santa ever! He loved sharing the magic of Christmas with all children. He loved working on family history. We will all miss him but are comforted to know that he is out of pain and is with his Heavenly Father. David is survived by his wife, Ginny, their children: Michelle (Andrew) Gould, Alexander (Laura) Alviso, Abigail (David) Gleason, Benjamin (Allie) Alviso and Joshua; his grandchildren: Audrey, Harrison, Penelope, Madeleine, Vera and Jaxon; ten brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all those who have expressed their love and support during this difficult time. Your thoughts and prayers on their behalf have not gone unnoticed and are very appreciated. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 11:00am. Service will be at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 650 North Lovers Lane, Visalia California. A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 prior to the services. Graveside Service and Interment will be in the Memorial Redwood Cemetery, 6500 S. Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT 84123.
