Dannye Lewis Hutchings

Dannye Lewis Hutchings/ "Lover Boy," age 73, of Visalia, CA, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me." - Psalm 23:4 Born on October 6, 1952, in Andrews, Texas. Dannye moved with his family to the Central Valley as a young child. After graduating from Mt. Whitney High School in 1970, he attended College of the Sequoias (COS) where he played football and wrestled. He was a proud member of the 1970 COS Football State Championship Team. He then went on to attend California, State University Fresno. On April 14, 1973, Dannye married the love of his life, Leslie at the Methodist Church in Visalia, CA. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love. They welcomed their children - daughter, Heather (1975), son, Bryan (1975), and son, Casey (1979) - and were blessed to raise their family in the same home for more than 50 years. Dannye was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, businessman, and faithful member of his church community. For more than 30 years, he owned and operated HTL, building not only a successful business but also lasting relationships with customers, colleagues, and friends. He was known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and unwavering commitment to serving God. He served as Deacon at Gateway Church for more than seven years and faithfully served as a greeter and usher for over 30 years. Dannye found joy in life's simple blessings and family traditions. He was known for his campfire marinated chicken, love for the outdoors, their annual trips to the couples retreat at Hume Lake, attending all their kids and grandchildren sporting events, he loved yard work and especially enjoyed using the chain saw, New Years coastal trips, family trips to Hume Lake which always included a walk around a lake, served on the Venture Leadership Team, volunteering together with Leslie for the Children's ministry at church, he loved watching and attending sporting events, attending a variety of bible study groups, attending the Quarterback Club gatherings, out of state road trips, enjoyed being active, he was part of the Redwood Boosters Football and Wrestling Club for over seven years, he was an active member of the Tulare County Builder's Exchange for over 20 years, he enjoyed taking his grandsons to the Men's Huddle at Gateway Church, and loved spending time in the spa with Leslie and a cup of coffee. A man of deep and abiding faith, Dannye attended Gateway Church for more than 50 years. His faith guided every aspect of his life and was evident in the love, generosity, and compassion he showed to those around him. Above all, Dannye cherished his family. He was preceded in death by his mother Serita Marks; his stepfather, Troy Marks; his step-brother, Mike Hutchings; his mother-in-law, Sheila Hefner; father-in-law, Bob Hefner; and sister-in-law Dana Coughlin. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Leslie Hutchings; his daughter, Heather Crawford (Chris); his sons, Bryan Hutchings (Abbi), and Casey Hutchings (Tasha); his brothers Warren Hutchings (Dorreen) and Tim Hutchings (Patty); his sister-in-law Penney Morrelli (Robert); and his brother-in-law, Jim Coughlin (Kelley). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Blake Crawford, Grant Crawford, Kadence Hutchings, Tanner Hutchings, Macin Hutchings, Chase Hutchings, and Reese Hutchings. His grandchildren brought immense joy to his life, and he treasured every opportunity to spend time with them. He was affectionately known as "Grandpa" to the many sports teams his grandchildren played for, always cheering them on from the sidelines. Dannye will be remembered for his steadfast faith, his commitment to his family, his entrepreneurial spirit, and the kindness he extended to everyone he met. His legacy of love, hard work, and devotion will continue to live on through the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, church family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
