Christopher M. Contreras, Jr. was born in Salinas, CA on June 23, 1970. He was a wonderful man with a big heart who filled his life with things he loved. His wife & children were at the top of that list. Close second, of course, was his dedication to his Dallas Cowboys. Next definitely were his cats - his daily companions & sources of funny stories. He spent his life doing things that made him happy: barbequing, joking around, fixing up his trucks & being a part of Intrepid Minds truck club. He loved to shop, ready to find great deals. He could always be found at the auctions in Tulare snapping up great buys. Though he did not talk about it, Chris was a very generous person who always helped those in need, whether it was his family, friends or complete strangers. Chris worked as an appliance technician for over 20 years and was always ready to help with his knowledge and skills. When Chris saw someone in need, he was ready to do what he could. When he heard of a family who needed groceries, he & Sofie were off to the grocery store to buy essentials for several meals. Their generosity always amazed the people they helped. In 2007 Chris found Sofie, the love of his life and his reason for living, they were able to spend an amazing 11 years together. Those years brought them a lot of memories that can be cherished with laughter, tears & loving thoughts. Though his many health issues over the years created those tears, not a moment would've been traded as that just strengthened the love shared between the two. It was easy to see how much love was there, whether it was playful banter where Chris loved to tease & make her laugh or in the loving care that she provided for him every day through healthy times & his illnesses. She was his champion, protector & source of comfort. Though he was strong and put up a great battle against his many health issues over the years, Chris was eventually called home on June 22, 2018 in Visalia, CA. Chris was preceded in death by his father, Cristobal L. Contreras; by both his maternal and paternal grandparents, and a few uncles. He is survived by his loving wife Sofie Contreras; children Christopher Burkey, Christian Contreras & Anastasia Huereca; mother, Gloria Contreras; brother, Joshua Contreras; half siblings, Ralph & Kayla Rangel; mother-in-law, Rose Huereca; brother-in-law, Jose Huereca and countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews who will miss him dearly. A Memorial Service will be held at 10am on Saturday, July 14th at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel in Visalia. A reception will follow at 11am at the Claude Meitzenheimer Community Center in Tulare.
