Chester Odell Murch

Chester "Chuck" Murch, 73, passed away peacefully on September 8th 2023. He was born in Tulare, CA on April 26, 1950, to Chet and Ellen Murch. He was the fourth of five children: Joan, Paul (deceased), Frank, and Tony. He attended Tulare Western High School. Chuck went on to marry Barbara Bass in June of 1968. They had one daughter, Stacy, of whom he was very proud. He also had three grandchildren and one great-grandson. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Murch, his daughter Stacy (married to Adam Brockie), his granddaughter Jessica (married to John Shamberger), his grandson Nicholas, his granddaughter Rachel, his great-grandson Jack (son of Jessica and John). He is also survived by his sister Joan Dean, and two brothers Frank Murch and Tony Murch along with many nieces/nephews, cousins, and friends. Chuck was last employed by the State of California as a Correctional Officer at Corcoran State Prison SATF. He was medically retired with Parkinson's Disease after serving 13 years with the department. He was very proud of his work in law enforcement. Before this, he worked in construction and at Young's Supermarket for many years, even before he was 16. Chuck loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing both locally and in the deep sea, deer hunting in Colorado, camping, and traveling with friends. He was a hard worker and was well-liked by everyone that crossed his path. There was nothing that Chuck loved more in the whole wide world than his family. Some of his favorite times were spent sitting around a table playing a friendly game of cards. He was never competitive and could often be heard saying simply: "I play my own game." Chuck was a one-of-a-kind husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle..you name it. He is loved dearly and will be greatly missed. Services for Chester "Chuck" Murch will be held on Wednesday, September 20th, 2023 at 5 p.m. at Salser and Dillard Funeral Home located at 127 E.
