Beverly Joan Atkinson

Beverly Atkinson ( Rose) passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her children, on May 23rd, 2024, at the age of 87. She was born in Maywood, California on July 25, 1936, to Frank and Marvel Rose. She later relocated to Hanford and then Visalia, where she remained for the rest of her life. Beverly graduated from Hanford High School in 1954. A beloved mother, she enjoyed raising her kids and watching their softball, baseball and football games. Later in life, she met the love of her life, Don Atkinson, and they married in September 1986. Known for her caring nature, Beverly loved to serve and give back to her community. She was a Lions Club member from 2006 to 2023. Beverly served as president for one term and held many other offices. She received a Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, one of the highest honors in the organization, for her Cinderella's Closet initiative providing dresses for young women going to prom. Beverly had a love for sewing and made baby blankets and outfits for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved doing arts and crafts with her grandchildren and was known for her paint splattered sweatshirts. An avid gardener, Beverly was often found outside, tending to her garden, which is something she never slowed down on doing. Beverly always had a smile on her face, and was known for her laugh that filled up any room that she was in. She had a close-knit group of girlfriends that she loved spending time with. Known as Grandma A to many, her home was the heart of her family, and she loved having her family and friends gather together for dinners and parties. She loved going on trips to the coast, and was known for her dozens of "last" trips to Vegas with her girls, a notable time being a bucket list surprise trip from her family to see Garth Brooks. She is survived by her children David Russell, Candyce (Arnie) Van Berkel, Janie (Tom) Graham, Trish (Mario) Krstic, stepdaughter Pam (Doug) DeGeer, her brother Jim (Sharon) Rose, and 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Don Atkinson, son Scott Russell, and brothers Jerry, Don, and Richard Rose. Her Celebration of Life will be held at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia on June 28, 2024, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to Seva Hospice or your favorite charity. Her family would like to give thanks to Seva Hospice staff for their care. To all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Grandma A loves you back.
