Bernard Cardoza Alves

The Lord called Bernie C. Alves home on September 28, 2024 at the age of 80 years old. He is deeply loved and missed by his wife of 50 years, Martha, his four children, Stephanie (Henry), Tommy (deceased), Eddie and Bernadette; his seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and his brother Frank, Jr. (Elizabeth). Bernie was a hardworking farmer and gifted mechanic for 60+ years. He worked until his last breath. While he is known for honing many skills, such as farming, mechanics, being a pool shark and gunslinger, he is best known for his big heart. Bernie was truly a cool guy whose word meant something. A humble guy, Bernie made friends everywhere he went. He would help anyone and expected nothing in return. He was always the first to step up. He did everything he could for everyone he could. He was a dad to many children who were not his own, opening his home to family and to friends of his children. Bernie always put his family first. He was a provider and protector. He worked hard and sacrificed a lot for his family. He was a strong leader of his household, family and business. An old school Portagee with a love for animals, he enjoyed the simple things in life and earned everything he had. Bernie was a good man; patriotic with courage and integrity. He was a good storyteller, provider, and protector. Tough and strong willed, he fought till the end. He always tried to do the right thing. A country boy at heart, they don't make 'em like Bernie anymore. As a believer in Jesus Christ, may the Lord rest your beautiful soul, Bernie. We love you endlessly. Your legacy will live on in your family and life's work. Your good name and memory will forever remain in our hearts. You will always be with us. Like the good protector you perpetually were, we know you will always be looking out for us from above. Until we're together again in the Kingdom of Heaven forever...
