Anthony Pete Vargas

Anthony "Pete" Vargas, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 9th, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 29, 1974, in Tulare, California, to Jose Vargas and Ninfa Cortez, and he spent his entire life rooted in love, faith, and family. Growing up in a large household with five brothers and three sisters, Pete learned early the values of loyalty, patience, and hard work. After graduating, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years. His service was a source of pride to both him and his family, reflecting his deep sense of duty and commitment. Following his time in the Navy, Pete dedicated 40 years to Lake Company, where his integrity, reliability, and strong work ethic earned the admiration of his colleagues. He also cherished the stability of home, having lived in the same Tulare residence for 52 years-a home that became the heart of countless family gatherings and memories. It was at Perry's Caf� where Pete met the love of his life, Donna Bernice Vargas. Their bond blossomed quickly, and they went on to share nearly 57 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised two children, Mark and Candeda, who were his greatest joy. Family remained at the center of his life, and he was blessed to welcome five grandchildren-Savannah, Jade, Cruz, Elijah, and Sophia-and, most recently, his great-granddaughter, Stella, who brought a sparkle to his later years. Pete will be remembered not only for the life he built but also for the man he was: selfless, patient, and endlessly giving. He was a caretaker at heart, someone who always put others before himself, living with quiet strength and unwavering love. He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna, his children, Mark and Candeda, his grandchildren, Savannah, Jade, Cruz, Elijah, and Sophia, his great-granddaughter Stella, and his siblings. Though deeply missed, his legacy of love and kindness will live on in the lives of all who knew him. Visitation will be held 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Tuesday, September 2nd, 2025 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia. Service Of Remembrance services will be held 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 3rd, 2025 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia. Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM Friday, September 5th, 2025 at North Tulare Public Cemetery, 4572 North J. St., Tulare.
