Adolph Richard Matta

On July 19, 2026, the world lost a truly amazing man. Adolph Richard Matta, beloved son, husband, father, and grandfather from Visalia passed away at eighty years old. He was born on October 02, 1945, to Adolfo "Billy" Matta and Theresa Matta. He was lovingly raised by his father and his wife Petra Matta. Richard was an incredibly hard worker, and he held many jobs in the Fresno and Visalia areas throughout his lifetime. He started his career in construction, working with several different businesses before starting his own company, South Valley Supply. After retiring from construction, Richard, alongside his good friend Donnie Kidd, ventured into the pool maintenance business and started Clean Sweep Pools. He was also incredibly dedicated to his community. Richard was an active member of the PPAV hall and served on the board of directors for several years, including a stent as president of the organization in 2001. He was also a faithful Catholic, and religion was a central part of his life. He was a leader and role model to many in his community. All of his hard work was for a singular purpose, for his wife Irene. Richard and Irene were married on May 27, 1967, in Visalia, and he was the most dedicated husband. Irene was his best friend and the love of his life. His love only grew when they had their sons, Kevin and Brian. Richard and Irene were incredibly devoted to their sons, and just when you'd think a greater depth of love couldn't be possible, they welcomed granddaughters Kate and Gabriella into their lives and their hearts. After the death of his wife in 2013, Richard continued to be the best father and grandfather until his final day. He was welcomed into paradise by his wife, parents, and many other friends and family members who were, without a doubt, thrilled to see him again. He is survived by his sons, Kevin Matta and Brian Matta, and well as his granddaughters, Gabriella Marie Matta and Kate Noelle Matta. Richard was the funniest, kindest, most joyful, and most loving person we have ever known. He will be so deeply missed. Visitation will be held 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday, August 20th, 2026 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia. Rosary will follow at 6:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial services will be held 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM Friday, August 21st, 2026 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 608 N. Church Street, Visalia. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, August 21st, 2026 at Visalia District Cemetery, 1300 W Goshen Ave, Visalia. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
