Adel Basskal Freij

Our beloved father and brother, Adel Basskal Freij, was born in Lebanon on December 20, 1957. With great sorrow, he went for eternal rest on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Kaweah Delta Hospital in Visalia, California while surrounded by family members and friends saying their last goodbyes with broken hearts. Adel's funeral services and reception will take place on February 9th 2019 at 1 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church located at, 608 N. Church St, Visalia, CA 93291. Respecting his wish to be buried beside his late and loving mother, Samearah Jiryes Shami, who sadly passed away on January 2, 2019, he will be flown afterwards to Seattle, WA, where both of them will be united to rest in eternal peace. Adel's humorous spirit, love for life, and vigor will remain alive among us and will continue to run through his three living sons: Pascal, Reda, and Hani. Adel was also blessed with three loving and caring siblings Suzanne Farraj, Hiam Malik, and Issa Freij. In 1986, Adel, his former wife Lena, his mother, and brother relocated from Lebanon to Jordan to establish a new life away from the civil war. While in Jordan, Adel and his wife were blessed with three sons and enjoyed their lives with extended family members. They worked hard to raise their children providing them with the best guidance, and quality education. In the year 2000, Adel moved to Seattle, WA where he started a new life and rebuilt his career. As he advanced in his work, he moved to Yakima, WA and then to Visalia, California where he spent the last 15 years of his life. Adel was dedicated to his work, loved his coworkers, and found his calling at Pace International. He eventually bought a new house, and fully settled in Visalia as his permanent home. Adel was full of life. He also had a beautiful sense of humor that made everyone feel connected and acquainted at the first encounter. He brought joy and laughter wherever he was. He always tried his best extending an arm of support, and help to others no matter whether they were friends, colleagues, neighbors, or family members. He made sure his friends and family knew that they could count on him. Living as an honorable man, he led a simple, peaceful, and humble life, holding his whole family in high regard. Adel will surely be missed and remembered as a man of courage, inspiration, and love for life. He was a brother, a son, and a father to all. He is present among us on this day and will be for many more days and years to come. Now he is with his creator free of pain, and at peace, alongside his beloved mother and father. May his soul Rest in Peace.
