Robert Gonzales Ramirez

In loving memory of Robert G. Ramirez of Orosi, CA, who passed away on January 15, 2025, at the age of 82. Robert (Bob) was born on August 5, 1942, in Gilroy, CA. He was raised in the Diablo Mountain Range at a mining camp called New Idria, where he cherished his childhood as a miner's son. At the age of 23, Bob followed in his father's footsteps and became a miner himself. Later, Bob moved his young family to the Central Valley, where he retired as a Diesel Mechanic and Bus Driver for the Selma Unified School District. Bob was beloved by the students he drove, known for his sense of adventure and the humor he brought to every field trip. He formed lasting friendships with colleagues and fellow church members at the Apostolic Assembly. Bob was married for 65 years to Virginia Pelaiz Ramirez. They met as children in New Idria and, after many shared adventures, reconnected as teenagers and married. Together, they created a lifetime of memories with their three children and later with their eight grandchildren. Their adventures often included camping trips throughout California's mountains and beaches, moments they all held dear. Bob's memory will live on through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as they share stories of those special camping trips and the many adventures they had together. His legacy of love, laughter, and family will forever be cherished. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Serapio Ramirez and Lupe Avila, and siblings, Carmelita Martinez, Ana Avila, Jorge Ramirez (baby); grandchildren Matthew Ramirez and great grandchildren Joel Albert Ramirez and Eliana Tercero. Robert is survived by his children Helen & Louis Aviles, Albert & Laura Ramirez and Robert Ramirez (Jr); grandchildren Michael Aviles, Vanessa Tercero, Gabriel Ramirez, Joel Ramirez, James Ramirez, Telisha Ramirez and Bobby Ramirez; siblings Gloria Valenzuela and John Avila; and many nieces and nephews across the state of California. Memorial services will be held 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM Friday, February 7th, 2025 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia.
